Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha. Probably a good thing, methinks.

It had been so long --too long-- since they'd been alone like this.

They'd travelled together for years, fought together everyday, but intimacy was still a rarity for them. Afterall, they'd had their share of ups and downs, a rockier start then most --though they'd gotten through it. Even then, there was still the others to worry about. Always there, always watching...

But tonight would be different.

They were with just each other, now; the others were sleeping. Just them and the moon, the soft forest sounds surrounding them like a blanket. His slid his fingers down her bare body; she was cool to the touch, and oh, so smooth. He did it again. And again.

Was that a shiver he felt?

He remembered their rough beginnings, how he resented her at first, blamed her for events of the past she could not control. But now she was his pearl in a sea of pebbles; his strength when he fought. What a fool he was for ever thinking he didn't need her. Didn't want her.

...They'd both waited too long for this.

He leaned back to look at her and take in her beauty. She shone, gem-like, in the moonlight.

"I love you," he whispered, and leaned in to place a kiss on her lower--

"Inuyasha, stop playing with that damn sword!"

The hanyou jerked his gaze to the speaker, then blushed crimson when he saw Kagome standing at the other end of the clearing.

"What in the world are you doing?" she demanded.

"Er, n-nothing, Kagome," he stammered, sheathing Tetsusaiga with a deep pang of regret.

They never got any alone time anymore.

FIN.

Author's Note: Yup, a 300-word crack ficlet. This is what comes of writing at four in the morning. Oh, and as for the pairing...you all know it's true.
