Harry had taken to walking the halls late at night. He mind never stopped racing and typically, it wasn't happy thoughts. When he was able to fall asleep, he tossed and turned and would wake up screaming. He was sick of it. He was exhausted, he never could hold down food, and he just felt miserable.

It's nothing more than you deserve.

It was the truth. He let Cedric die. He replayed that night over and over again in his head. What if he took the cup by himself? Why couldn't he have pushed Cedric out of the way? But honestly, what chance did he have of defeating Voldemort anyways? He was a boy. At this point, Harry was not sure what he had left to fight for when he knew he was doomed. Harry wanted to survive, but he didn't know how. Harry stopped and stared out an open window. He prayed to the stars that someone would look out for him and help him live.

-OoOoOo-

Luna felt sick. She only got a couple hours of sleep each night, if she was lucky, because of the work load Walcott had pushed on her. On top of that, she had to deal with the Ravenclaw girls. She knew some short cuts to escape from their clutches, but living in the same tower, they were bound to run into her. She knew she looked like a mess. Her hair was dirty, her clothes were askew, and she hadn't been eating. She didn't know how she was going to make it through the year. On top of that, her nightmares had returned. She kept dreaming of the night her mom died. That horrible night she wished she could forget. She never told her dad everything; Luna was the one who distracted her Mom while she was brewing. If she hadn't, her mom wouldn't have mixed up the ingredients…Luna blinked back tears. A day never went by without thinking about that night. She wished she could turn back time and do it all over again.

Luna turned back to the list of assignments she still had to complete before tomorrow. One more essay to go and then she could try and get some rest. Her eyes widened in horror. Her book! She left her book in the Charms classroom! She groaned and let her head fall to her desk with a thud. She had no other option, but to sneak out and get it. She threw her cloak on and headed out of the dorm.

It was dark that night, which helped as she stayed close to the shadows in the hopes of not being seen. Her heart was pounding so loud that she was certain someone could hear it. She didn't have time for a detention with all the work she had to do. She sighed in relief as she snuck into the classroom and found her book. Now, she only had to get back to the dorms without getting caught.

She was very close now. She turned her head side to side, keeping an eye out for any movement. She thought she heard something behind her so she turned sideways as she kept walking. She let out a cry of surprise when she hit something solid and she fell to the ground. At the same time, she heard a voice cry out in alarm.

"I'm so sorry!" She apologized to the stranger. It had to be a student. The person was around her height and a prefect would have seen her coming and yelled out a "detention!" at first sight.

"It's alright. It was my fault to." The stranger replied.

As they both stood up, they introduced themselves in the light of the night sky.

"I'm Harry, nice to run into you."

"Luna, and I know who you are. And sorry again!"

"Doesn't everyone know me?" Where did that come from? Harry thought. He said it in such a playful way. He never talked like that before or joked about his fame. Harry gulped. "It's alright. Like I said, it was my fault too. What brings you out this late?"

"I left my book in Charms and I had to finish an essay. How about you?" Luna whispered.

"Couldn't sleep." Harry said just as softly.

The moonlight streamed through the window as Harry got a good look at her. She was pretty, but something was off. She had dark circles under her eyes and she was very pale.

"Are you ok?" Harry asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a lot of homework." Luna laughed nervously.

Harry knew she was lying. Homework wouldn't cause that much of a physical change in someone, but who was he to pry into her life when he didn't want anyone prying into his?

"What year are you?" He asked.

"Fourth."

"Well, I'm fifth, so if you ever need any help, just ask." Did he just offer to help with homework? What had gotten into him?

"Thanks, but I better be going if I want to get any sleep. It was nice to meet you."

"Maybe next time won't be as painful!" Harry quirked.

Luna blushed. "I hope not. Well anyways, bye."

As Luna started walking away, Harry turned back to the sky. As he watched the stars twinkle at him, he realized how much he enjoyed talking to Luna, even for such a short time. He rushed after her.

"Hey wait!" Harry said as he tapped her on the shoulder.

"Yes?"

Harry swallowed. Where is that Gryffindor courage? "Well, if you ever happen to lose a book again, I'll be here by the window in case you want to talk." Smooth Potter. Smooth.

When Luna didn't say anything for a little while, Harry wanted to kick himself. He was about to say it was ok if she didn't want to talk when Luna opened her mouth to speak.

"I would like that." Ok. Where did that come from? Luna asked herself. She didn't have the time for friends with all the work she had to do, but he was just so nice.

Harry sighed in relief. "Goodnight."

Luna walked back towards the dorm as Harry headed to the window. Harry didn't know what was going on. He didn't want to talk to his friends, but her? He felt this pull to her that he couldn't describe. And the way he acted! He was moping around one second and the next he was all playful…Best not to dwell on it. He thought. Harry headed back to the dorms after he looked out into the night sky once more. He couldn't help but hope he would see her again.

AN: What do you think? They have finally met! Walcott will be returning soon…
