Riku watched as the only person he could ever love walked away with the older brunette. He just didn't have the heart to say anything. He had been hoping for years that the old saying of "if you let something go and it comes back to you, it will always be yours" held true. But as he watched Sora walk away he knew either it wasn't true or Sora had never been his.

Either way the pain of loss grew in his chest. It grew and grew burning as it took over his being. Burning him from the inside, burning everything that was himself.

Memories just made it worse. The memory of the warm smile on a warm day as they ran through fields of flowers, or as they swam down at the beach, was like fire on the blaze. A fuel that made what was there stronger beyond belief.

Tears came to his eyes as the pain increased from moment to moment, slowly sliding down his cheeks.

He could have very well called out to show the boy how much he hurt inside. But he couldn't be that selfish. Sora was happy. And that little bit of knowledge made him feel better.

But knowing that he would never ever have what he craved drowned that little bit of happiness.

His world was shattering around him. The last little piece of who and what he was falling broken around him. And now that Sora was gone, he couldn't find the will to care.
