A/N: This is kind of random, but it sat in my head and wouldn't go away, so now you guys have to read it. 'Kay? Oh, and I don't know why you'd think I own RENT, but I don't. Not even a little bit, like the squeegee or something.

The difference between her and Angel, Mimi knew, was that Angel wasn't afraid to die. She faced death the same way she faced everything else: with a bright smile and infectious cheerfulness. Mimi hid from death. She'd discovered the easiest way to forget was to throw herself into everything with as much aggressive happiness as she could manage. To everyone else, it seemed like Angel and Mimi feared nothing.

"How could we lose Angel?"

The difference between mark and Roger was that Mark accepted things. He got upset about them, but he didn't try to change them. Roger questioned everything, even himself. He refused to believe in death, not because he was scared, but because it didn't do what he wanted.

"There's so much to care about, there's me, there's Mimi…"

The difference between Mark and Mimi was that Mark trusted people not to let each other down, and trusted them to still love him when they did anyway. Mimi didn't trust anyone to love her, she expected them to. Mimi's heart broke easily.

"Mark has got his work- "

The difference between Roger and Angel was that Angel backed down when she knew she was wrong. She stood up for herself, but only up to a point. Roger didn't back down, he just turned around so no one knew where he was coming from anymore.

"You're always preaching not to be numb, when that's how you thrive!"

The difference between Mark and Angel was that Mark had no reason to be passionate. He just was. Angel was passionate about Collins, and Mimi, and clothes, and AZT. Mark was passionate about a film he hadn't made and a girlfriend he hadn't kept.

"Is Roger really jealous, or afraid that Mimi's weak?"

The difference between Mark and Collins was that Mark wasn't afraid to voice his fears. Collins worried silently, keeping his fear in a quiet, grey part of him that no one saw, hiding it in case it became a reality. Mark knew that what he was afraid of was reality, so he didn't try to hide it.

"You don't want to watch me die…"

The difference between Collins and Roger, Mimi thought bitterly, was that Collins had watched Angel die anyway.

"Goodbye, love, goodbye…"

The difference between Collins and Angel was that Collins had watched Angel die, and hadn't followed her. The only death Angel really didn't fear was her own.

"I know a place, a clinic."

The difference between Mark and Benny was that Mark knew where the clinic was, and Benny only knew how much it cost.

"I'll pay."

There were many differences between Roger and Benny. Benny had waited up for her every night, and Roger had gone out looking for her. Benny worried about her in terms of himself and Roger worried about her in terms of her. But the biggest difference between them was that Benny was with Mimi.

"Just came to say, goodbye love."

The difference between Benny and Mimi was that Benny was with the person he loved.

"Hello, disease…"

But the only difference between Mimi and Roger, she realised, was that Roger was in Santa Fe.

Did you know that if you don't review, Mimi gets really depressed? And Roger angsts and plays Musetta's Waltz… And we all want to stop him doing that! So go press the little purple button… please?
