Value for Money

He caught glimpses of her all afternoon, but never really saw her.

The metal handle glistened like ice as she approached it, taking a firm hold on it, and opening it hesitantly, she peeped her head round the door. Satisfied with it being empty, she walked over to her locker and leaned her clammy forehead against the cold metal. What was I thinking, he's just a boy! She ignored the voice in her head hat whispered: "and he was there…"

He shouldn't have come I, he knew it as soon as he had. But he couldn't just leave her, he never could, he knew that she didn't even notice him enter, and he knew he cared. He knew too much, he was too old and too wise. She probably wanted Dracula anyway…

She first realised she had company when he placed one of his hands on the small of her back, burning through to her skin, and one above her on the locker, but slightly to the lift. She gasped almost inaudibly when she heard him whisper directly into her right ear.

"Are you alright, Maggie? Her knees went weak; she was falling all over again.

He didn't know where he had found the courage to do such an intimate act, he reasoned that he had become rather reckless lately and put it down to that. Her hair had felt like silk when his lips brushed against its new shorter length. He liked this cut; it framed her face well and showed off her beautiful neck. Maggie slowly started to turn, in his arms, he liked to think.

Maggie could only fully appreciate how close he actually was when she had completely turned around. "I'm fine" she smiled. Well I am now anyway…He raised a suspicious eyebrow in response. "Honestly, Charlie, I'm fine." To prove her point she threw her head back to adopt a relaxed pose, but instantly regretted it.

"Ow! That must have hurt." She didn't reply she was laughing too much at her own stupidity. "See you've cheered up, and I didn't have to do anything!" She smiled again, he loved her smiles, all 5 of them. He should tell her that one day.

She had only recently noticed the green festive plant dangling appealingly over their heads. He followed her gaze.

"We seemed to be making a habit of getting caught under these" Oh how he so wished.

"Well, you can have this one for free, seeing as the other one wasn't really value for money." She tried to hide her smile, but it danced over her lips and up to her eyes.

"You sure?" He gulped, she smiled her answer.

Maggie didn't think she had ever been so conscious of her lips and tongue as he angled his head down towards her; he basically had her pinned to the lockers.

He noticed, just before her eyes fluttered closed, that they showed her nerves. She lent her head up towards him in anticipation.

His kisses were so soft that she almost thought he was reluctant, until her placed a tender hand on her waist and she placed a palm on his chest, just over his heart. Her lips parted slightly under his as she needed him more. If someone struck him dead now, he would die happy.

As their lips kissed and the tongues danced, she thought only of how perfect this was, and how devastating it would be if the only reason he was kissing her was because of mistletoe and the festive season.

Charlie broke away before he got lost in the taste of her. Maggie noticed a fire had been re-kindled in him, and it showed in his eyes, he was alive.
