The Other Side

Booth opened his eyes into the dark room to see the sleeping woman figure next to him on the bed. He was a light sleeper and as soon as the sun smoothly bathed the bedroom with its golden light, he woke up, at first not opening his eyes and enjoying the soft heat on his back. Booth smiled, breathing out contently, as a mild pain in his muscles greeted him.

Booth risked a glance at her naked body, she didn't even bother to cover herself with a blanket, instead she laid completely bare against the sheets, legs softly curved against him and one arm neatly tucked under her pillow while the other was thrown aimlessly to her side. She was such a pretty picture, her mouth slightly open and hair covering part of her forehead, a strand being blown up and down with her soft breathing.

It took his breath away. She was beyond beautiful, bathed by the morning sunlight, so fragile and uncomplicated that it made his heart ache a little, to see her lying by his side. Booth wanted more, he wanted to protect her, to hold her in his arms and cover her face with soothing kisses, the knowledge of what she's been through was now taking him like a torrent.

Brennan shifted lightly by his side, moving closer to him and Booth couldn't help but plant a kiss on the top of her forehead, the memory of her on top of him merely few hours ago causing shivers to run through his skin, and he smiled. He goofly smiled, crazily enthralled and enamorated by her, so close to her face that her breath was blowing against his cheek now.

They've been sleeping together for about a month and still he couldn't take the goofy grin off his face every time he woke up to find her by his side, sometimes closely snugged against him, sometimes the other way across the bed; still, he felt like a teenage boy every time he looked at her or when they were about to kiss. Booth still felt the urging desire to kiss her every time she spoke science in the lab or every time she was Brennan. Mostly, he couldn't get rid of the urge to kiss her.

She shifted again, sighing, and he could see goosebumps on her skin; she should be feeling cold, he thought, looking at the messy sheets wrapped around her feet. He pulled his own to cover her, moving closer so that it would cover them both, wrapping his arms around her and breathing into the scent of her hair. Closing his eyes for a moment, he admitted to himself what he suspected for months now: he was crazily in love with Brennan and sniffling her hair was a pretty good sign of that.

Booth smiled again, goofily looking down at her peaceful face for what seemed like an eternity.

"Stop staring at me, Booth," she mumbled in her sleep, smiling lightly.

He chuckled lightly.

"I can't. If you only could see the view from the other side, you'd stare too," he said, hugging her tighter.
