Heartfelt Spring

Sad and alone, a girl sits down

Surrounded by markers that seem to frown

Despite the warmth of the promise of spring

This lovely girl starts shivering

For cold can come from more than weather

And this poor girl knows all the better

That frigid memories can chill the bone

For the fates have left her all alone

But wait, for there is someone coming

One who keeps his feet from running

Who stops to pick a single flower

And then hurries on with all his power

He stops at a distance and quietly waits

Wishing he could take away all her sad fates

But that task, alas, he cannot complete

And so, he watches her rise from her seat

Wistfully, she turns and walks

Amidst the new, green shoots and stalks

He takes her hand, she leans on his arm

As if his presence would keep her from harm

A ways down the path they find a ring

With symbols that seemed, to them, to sing

For through that gate they know they will find

Springtime of a different kind
