Dear Diary,
Well it's that time of day again. My beloved protector and guardian vampire (cause an angel he ain't!), has awoken from his afternoon nap. Every day is the same. I get home from school, (did I mention that I hate summer school?) just in time to see the Big Bad stagger up the stairs from the basement. He heats up a cup, and goes into the living room. I wish he'd never gotten that damn CD. He listens to it until sundown, and then goes and kills something. Then, as always, he returns. Usually with another book begged, borrowed or stolen from Giles or Willow.
God it's depressing.
----------------
The dust has finally settled on the field of human clay
Just enough light has shown through
To tell the night from the day
We are incomplete and hollow
For our maker has gone away
Who is to blame?
We'll surely melt in the rain
Say I
The stillness is so lifeless with no spirit in your soul
Like children with no vision do exactly what they're told
Being led into the desert
For your strength will surely fade
Who is to blame?
We'll surely melt in the rain
Say I
Frantic, faction, focus
The world breathes
And out forms this misconception we call man
But I don't know him
No, I don't know him
Because he lies
Say I
-Say I
Creed.

Dawn watched from her seat at the dining room table, the books spread out before her. Spike grabbed his mug from the microwave and disappeared from view. She could hear him as he fiddled with the stereo, and prepared herself for the inevitable crash of power chords to resound through the house.
They didn't.
Instead a sound resembling a heartbeat echoed through the empty rooms, and then a gentle guitar riff. But it was the opening lyrics that made her really sit up and pay attention.
Dawn looked to the doorway to see the blonde vamp standing there, a soft smile on his face, and near joy in his eyes. Her own filled with both hope and fear as the song dwindled to a beating heart.
"S-Spike?"
He walked towards her, "Willow found it, bit." His arms wrapped around her small form as Dawn threw herself at him, "You'll have your sis back by week's end."
---------------
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Well I don't know if I'm ready
To be the man I have to be
I'll take a breath, take her by my side
We stand in awe, we've created life
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
If I had just one wish
Only one demand
I hope he's not like me
I hope he understands
That he can take this life
And hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world
With arms wide open...
