Elimine's Light
By: KellyCRocker59
I was in the mood for giving a little love to the mysterious bishop, so I decided to do a shonen-ai fanfic. You have been warned that this is MANxMAN, though not at all dirty (Unusual for me). Anyway, if you like it, PLEASE REVIEW! And if you don't for a good reason other than not liking shonen-ai in general, I LOVE constructive criticism.
Wallace walked slowly up the hill, away from camp. It was the day before the final battle against Nergal; the day before the end. He came to the top and saw Renault looking out across the valley that was splattered with the blood of the foes that they had just defeated. Wallace watched the man with intense curiosity, thinking of what he had told him upon their last conversation.
Flashback (A support)
WALLACE: Lord Renault, are you all right?
RENAULT: Yes.
WALLACE: You know... It is somewhat strange, but... though we've only just met,
I feel as though I've known you for quite some time. I feel we could
be good friends.
RENAULT: It would be an honor.
WALLACE: Would that I had met you sooner! Soon our journey ends... And will we
fight together no more?
RENAULT: Keep your guard up, Wallace. Victory is not ours yet.
WALLACE: Aahahaha! He said the exact same thing to me once! How could I forget!
His teachings are all engraved on my heart!
RENAULT: Wallace. Would you still like to see him again?
WALLACE: Of course! But...it feels less urgent now. having fought alongside
you like this, Bishop Renault... It has given me the feeling that
perhaps... He has been watching me from heaven...
RENAULT: Perhaps...
WALLACE: I must thank you, Your Excellency.
RENAULT: But I have done nothing, really. Let us go now.
WALLACE: Onward!!
End Flashback
Wallace walked forward, feeling a familiar heat sweep over him as he neared the bishop, the same heat that he had felt many a time.
"Renault…" Wallace whispered.
The bishop turned to him with his usual hard expression. Even in the short time that they had known one another, Wallace had grown attached to the other man, in a deeper way than simple friendship.
"Wallace, it is good that you came. I need…someone at a time like this." The bishop said, turning back around to look at the sunset.
The general slowly walked forward, standing beside the other man. There was a long period of silence, and then Wallace spoke.
"Are you ready for tomorrow?" He asked.
Renault shook his head, which shocked the general. He was so used to seeing the bishop under control.
"I have much…baggage with Nergal." He said, and in a way that Wallace knew not to ask.
Another long period of silence ensued, and this time Renault broke it.
"I don't know if I can handle it, Wallace. The things that happened; you wouldn't ever think of me the same if you knew."
Wallace sighed.
"No matter what, Renault, I would never turn my back on you. I…care about you." He said, bringing about another wave of awkwardness.
Then, he felt something warm against his hand. He looked down to see Renault's fingers weaving through his, gripping his larger hand tightly. Wallace gave the hand a gentle squeeze and then looked back at the sunset. The final battle was tomorrow, but all Wallace could think about was how Elimine's light had shined down on them.
