Cats
"Draco! What the hell is this?!"
Draco grinned smugly into his cup of tea, before placing it on the kitchen table and walking out into the hallway.
"What?" he asked when he stood next to his fuming lover.
Harry glared at him and pointed at the basket labelled 'Scar Head' on the floor and the tiny black kitten in it. "This!" he said.
"That's a cat Harry," Draco said matter-a-factly and grinned inwardly.
"No really?" came the sarcastic reply, "And you named him Scar Head?!"
"He sort of reminded me of you," Draco said with a casual shrug and looked down at the kitten that looked back up at them with big eyes.
Harry sighed, "I though we were over the name calling," he said sadly.
"I'm not calling you names, I just named the cat," Draco argued back.
Harry stared at him for a long time, then turned around and walked away. When Draco heard the outer door slam shut he felt a tight knot in his stomach.
"Shit!" he mumbled.
He looked down at the kitten, which was still staring up at him, and picked it up. He cradled it in his arms as he walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa with a deep sigh.
"I think we just got ourselves into some bad trouble Scar Head," he said and nuzzled it behind its ears. The kitten looked up at him with half closed, brown eyes speckled with green. It purred and let out a soft 'meow' of comfort, before laying its head on his stomach.
3 hours later, Draco still sat on the couch, now with his head in his hands and the kitten lying next to him. He wondered if Harry not being home yet meant that he was going to leave him, and he felt his stomach tighten even more. But it was stupid, why would Harry get so upset and leave him? It was just a stupid cat and a stupid name.
He looked over at the kitten when it meowed softly and he nuzzled the top of its head. Okay maybe it wasn't such a stupid cat, but it was still a stupid thing to get upset about, wasn't it?
When he suddenly heard the outer door open and close again he jumped up from his seat and ran into the hallway to his lover.
"Harry?" he said, worriedly eyeing the box his lover was carrying in his arms.
Harry only glanced at him before walking past him and into the living room with the box.
"Harry, I'm sorry. But I don't understand why you're so upset, it's just a name!" Draco rambled as he followed him.
His lover kept quiet as he walked over to the sofa and kneeled beside it. Draco saw the kitten lift its head to look at Harry curiously.
When Harry grinned at it and opened the box, Draco's heart skipped a beat, until he saw what Harry pulled out.
A tiny white kitten, with big bright eyes, was sat next to the little black kitten and they both looked at each other wonderingly.
"You.. got a cat?" Draco asked as he watched the two kittens sniff curiously at each other.
"I named him Ferret," Harry grinned, "I though Scar Head might like some company when we're not around,"
"You're not mad?" Draco asked carefully.
"Nope," Harry grinned at him.
Draco grinned back and sat down next to his lover on the floor and they watched as Scar Head licked Ferret's head.
When Draco felt his own cheek being licked by Harry he grinned even wider.
"The cat made me do it," Harry murmured in his ear before turning Draco's head towards him and kissing him softly.
The next day, the label on the cat's basket was changed out with a new one, which read: 'Scar Head loves Ferret'
The two kittens curled around each other, like yin and yang, in the basket, looked up at the two men in front of them. And when Draco kissed Harry softly, Ferret nuzzled Scar Head's chin. There were 6 unspoken words hanging above them in the air: 'The human made me do it.'
