I've had this in my head for a while. This takes place 12 years after the war. James is six years old, Albus is 4, and Lily is 2.
I do not own Harry Potter. If I did, Lupin and Tonks would have survived. Harry Potter belongs to JK Rowling,

Twenty-nine year old Harry Potter kissed his youngest son and daughter good night and tucked them in. Her smiled lovingly at the two and headed to little Jimmy's room where Ginny was reading him a bedtime story.
"Knock, knock." Harry said as he knocked on the door. "I just came in to say good night."
Ginny smiled up at her husband. "Right on time. We were just finishing up."
Harry smiled and sat on Jimmy's bed. "Did you have a good story?"
Jimmy nodded. "Mommy is the best story teller ever!"
Both Harry and Ginny chuckled. Harry hugged and kissed his oldest son good night.
"Sleep tight, Jimmy." Harry said.
Jimmy gazed up at his father looking at the lightning shaped scar.
"Daddy, what's that on your head?" Jimmy pointed to said scar.
Ginny gave James a warning look. "James..."
Harry gently placed a hand over Ginny's. "It's okay, Gin." He turned to James. "Well, James...a long time ago there was an evil wizard. He tried to take over the world. There wad a little boy he wanted to kill because he was afraid he'd be stronger than him. So...he set off and tried to kill the boy. He already finished off his parents. The little boy survived the attack. But he had a scar on his head because of it."
Jimmy's brown eyes widened with curiosity. "Why did the little boy survive?"
"Because his mommy protecte4d him with love." Harry answered.
"Is the evil wizard still alive?"
Harry shook his head. "He's gone now. So, you have nothing to worry about."
"How did he die?"
"Ok, James, that's enough for tonight." Ginny replied. "Now it's time to go to bed."
"Awww, but Mommyyy!" James whined.
"Your mother's right, James. It's time for bed." Harry gently pushed James down on his pillow and tucked him in. "Good night."
James relented and yawned. "'Night."
Harry and Ginny left the bedroom and tiptoed to theirs.
"You know, I have a feeling Al and Lily are going to ask that same question when they're older." Ginny remarked.
"Me too." Harry replied, putting an arm around Ginny's shoulders. "But, they have a right to know I think."
Ginny nodded in agreement. "Good point."
