The air around him was loving and warm. He smiled to himself, and snuggled closely to his mother's soft, furry belly. His brothers and sisters did the same, all piling on top of eachother to just get closer to their mother. Their mother was so sweet, so gentle, and always had milk ready for them. Life was swell for a bunny.

The lights switched on. He peeked over the top of his one sister's head, and saw one of the big creatures smiling down at them. The big creatures always smiled when they were happy, and it made him feel secure and loved. The creature reached down into the cage to stroke their soft bunny heads, and he closed his eyes in delight when the creature's hand reached to him.

This creature was very kind, and cleaned their little home for the bunnies every morning. Then, other big creatures would come see the happy bunny family, and they would always like to reach down and pet their heads and backs. He loved it when the younger big creatures came, they were especially eager to play with him.

Sometimes, a big creature would take one of his brothers and sisters away. But mother said it would be alright. She said that they would come for each of them, and that they would all go to new homes with the big creatures, where they would be well-fed and pet on the heads all the time. He looked forward to his own time with a new home, but knew he would be sad to leave his family behind.

One afternoon, another big creature came into the shop. It came over to the bunnies, and looked down at them with a smile. He knew that smiles meant the big creature was happy, so he became happy too. Finally, the big creature reached down and put him in a little cardboard box. It was dark and uncomfortable, but he knew it was a necessary start to his new, exciting life with a loving big creature.

First, the big creature pet him on the head. So far, so good, he thought. Then, the big creature found a carrot. "You guys like carrots, right?" It said. So he ate the carrot, content that he had finally found a nice, peaceful home. One day he may find mother again, and tell her how nice the new big creature was.

Then the big creature lifted him in it's arms. It lined him up against the wall, and pressed a small, metal object near his tummy. This tickled a little bit, so he twitched his nose. Then the big thing found a large, heavy-looking stick, with more metal parts at one end. The big creature smiled. It must have been happy about something. Smiles always made him feel secure and loved, after all.
