The Colour of Eternity

An Inuyasha cross Twilight Fanfiction

"Amber. That dark golden-yellowy colour. It's the colour of sunshine, the colour of eternity. Of perfection. It is a semi-precious stone."

– Ms Johnson, English Teacher.

Amber:

Amber is an orange-yellow color that got its name from the material known as amber.

Fossilized resin of conifer trees. Colors range from honey through yellow to reddish brown.

The most common colors are honey yellow.

Fossilized sap or pitch from trees, usually golden brown and translucent.

Author's Note: Gosh, that actually made me quite flattered when I heard it. My other name is 'Amber'. Hmm. What do you think of it?

Disclaimer: Twilight's not mine. Neither is Inuyasha. They belong to Stephenie Meyer and Rumiko Takahashi respectively. Slightly Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden. That's by Yuu Watase as well. Hmm.

Warning: This is merely a section of Chapter 1 (I haven't finished it), but I wanted to see what you think. Much thanks to Hane Tsuki- Wings of the Moon for reading the snippet the first time.

Isabella ran as the monster plunged after her, having no idea what it was or why it was chasing her, but that knowledge in itself was enough. The main thing now was to, well, run.

So she did.

She ran, without any real idea where she was going, when her eye suddenly spotted a boy tied to what looked like a stake. Veering sideways she ran towards him – even as she realised how handsome he was – and skidded to a halt in front of him, panting.

"Help me!"

He raised one elegant eyebrow, his golden eyes appraising her and wrinkling his nose slightly. The artificial wind created by her arrival as the creature lumbered after her ruffled his already windswept bronze hair.

"Why?" He asked, slowly, reluctantly.

Bella rolled her eyes and almost screamed in frustration.

"If you haven't noticed, there is a great giant monster chasing me!"

He raised his eyebrows in a relaxed manner. "Looks like you were doing fine."

"Yeah, thanks." She looked back over her shoulder anxiously.

"Look." His voice was dark. "What if I'm more of a monster than he is? There is a reason I'm tied to this ridiculous pole."

"You look human enough for me, more human that he is anyway, so that's fine. Now, you need help untying yourself or what?"

He sighed deeply and scowled. "I wasn't going to do this, but you've forced my hand."

Bella backed away slightly in sudden realisation and fear at his dark words, but he merely unwrapped the length of rope tying him down swiftly – somehow. He coiled the rope back into a neat loop and dropped it onto the ground.

"I'm Edward Cullen, by the way."

"Isabella Swan. Call me Bella though."

Edward's lips twitched as he thought of the irony that they were in horrible danger – especially her – and she was worried about how someone said her name. She was either a one of a kind girl, or horribly stupid.
