Important Notes Ok, this is my very first fic ever ever ever. So please don't be too harsh. Constructive criticizem is welcome, though. Encouraged, even. ;) Hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer If I owned Bleach, I wouldn't have a spaghetti sauce stain on my favorite white T-shirt.
Stony Façade
There was no reason for weakness. There was no excuse for weakness. It was simply unacceptable. A nuisance.
Disgusting.
So why was she cracking? What drove her to this hideous low?
Pain. Heartache. Things a Kuchiki was never supposed to feel, much less express.
Rukia couldn't help but sneer at her own pathetic actions, even as she felt the tears slide down her pale cheeks. Even as she knelt in the blood, felt its sticky wetness on her hands as she desperately tried to stymie the fatal flow.
This hollow had taken its toll; she was physically and mentally unable to continue. This was it – the overload, the point of breaking she had managed to prevent for years and years. Centuries of stress and pain, finally past boiling point.
"What are you doing, midget?"
Rukia gasped in shock as the previously white and lifeless face blinked up at her with cinnamon brown eyes.
"I-Ichigo?!"
The boy grimaced with pain as he made a move to rise, quickly settling back down.
"Yeah, me. And still alive and kicking, thank you!"
"Not much longer if you don't stay still!" Rukia was infinitely relieved – so much that all the previous anguish was quickly being replaced with anger at his brash actions.
She summoned up the last threads of strength to finish knitting the wound closed, silently thanking the gods that Ichigo had the sense to keep quiet and still while she hovered over his stomach.
Sighing quietly, Rukia leaned back on her heels and pushed a lock of raven hair behind her ear. With her assistance, Ichigo was able to carefully clamber to his feet.
Leaning on each other for support (although neither would admit needing any kind of help, especially from the current company), they made their slow, gray-faced way back to Ichigo's house.
Neither mentioned Rukia's slip of nerves as, for the first time, her perfect, stony façade slid and broke apart.
Randome Notes I don't know where this came from, inspiration just struck. I just hope it was the good kind of inspiration. XD Anyway, I'm definately, in no way saying you HAVE to review or whatever. It'd be totally and completely awesome if you did, but that's up to you, if you thought it was good enough for a review. My self-confidence can always use the boost, too. :3
