A/N: Uh... I don't know what's with this story. I tried something new, so tell me if you like it. Anyway, this is part of my healing process.
Disclaimer: If I owned Harry Potter, this story never would have had the need to have been written.

I. Innocence
---
This is what it has always been. Fred and George, George and Fred. There have been days when the world has revolved around the Burrow, and there is nothing else.
There is nothing else but innocence.
---
"Hey, Gred."
"Yeah, Forge?"
"What do you get when you give Buckbeak a Chocolate Frog?"
"Is this another pathetic attempt at a joke?"
"Just answer the question."
"I dunno... what?"
"A Hoppogriff."
"... That's terrible."
---
"I've just had a thought..."
"An epiphany?"
"Perhaps an ingenious idea."
"Or maybe an imagining."
"Or could it even be-"
"A realization?!"
"..."
"So, what is it?"
"You know...? I've forgotten."
---
"You bored?"
"Did you even have to ask?"
"Right... I'm thinking we put out heads together."
"Wouldn't that be quite uncomfortable?"
"You're an absolute prat."
"..."
"Let's send Ron a stocking full of spiders."
"Been there, done that."
"Oh, yeah... that was a riot."
"We could blow up Mum's pie."
"I'm not really in a 'loosing my limbs' type of mood today."
"Damn... well, that rules out anything exciting."
---
II. Understanding
---
They have always understood the silent terror that has shrouded their world, from the moment they were born. They chose to ignore.
They cannot ignore any longer.
---
"You awake?"
"Yeah. I can't sleep."
"Me neither."
"..."
"He was a good guy."
"He was, wasn't he. Honorable, and all that."
"He didn't deserve it."
"No, he didn't."
---
"Forge, I've been thinking."
"Quite an amazing feat."
"Sod off! Anyway, I reckon I'm fed up with this place."
"You read my mind."
"Hard to do when there's nothing there."
"...You wound me."
"It's a gift."
"So, you think it's time we realize our true potential?"
"Absolutely."
"I couldn't agree with you more."
---
"But he's not really dead, is he? He's just 'behind the veil', right?"
"That's just a metaphor for death, Fred."
---
"I don't believe it."
"I know. I thought he was... I dunno, invincible, or something."
"Me too."
"What's gonna happen now? I mean, is this it?"
"That's the way it feels. It feels like..."
"... The end."
"Yeah."
---
III. Revelation
---
They never really knew what it was like... they knew that sometimes people just didn't come back, and they were full of fear and they were aware of the ugly truth.
But they still crashed and burned anyway.
---
"George?"
"Don't."
"But-"
"Can't we just laugh about this?"
"I'm trying to."
"I need you to."
"..."
"We're not identical anymore."
"Don't say that."
---
"Hey, hang on a second."
"What?"
"We're really gonna do this. Go in there. Fight? I'm not getting cold feet, I'm just saying- maybe we should... I dunno... just in case..."
"Just in case? C'mon, mate. I'll see you on the other side."
"The other side. You make it sound like-"
"That's not what I meant."
"Remember when we said this was the end?"
"Yeah..."
"Well, I just wanted to... you know-"
"George?"
"Yeah?"
"Me too."
---
IV. Disillusion
---
This is the one moment of his life when he feels like he might burst with it all, with everything.
But there is nothing to say.
---
"Hey, Gred."
Hey, Forge.
"..."
"So, two giants walk into a bar..."
Oh, for the love of Merlin.
---
V. Acceptance
---
This is what it is supposed to be.
This is how the world is.
---
"Fred?"
"Took you long enough."
