Grim Understanding

"Ah, poor SPRX-77. Your thoughtless actions have finally led you into a deeper pit of despair," A rasping, cold voice was merely a whisper in the lonesome wind outside of the Super Robot.

"It's been three years," Another lower, more solemn tone ripped through the unsettling air, but nothing heard the statement except for the red simian's companion.

"I'm well aware of that, my friend," the dark, raucous creature hissed perniciously. His voice was a slowly thickening poison.

Sprx spat at the other's emphasis on the last word. "I am not your friend,"

"Oh, but you used to be, my flippant compatriot," the other, who was leaning casually on one of the Super Robot's metallic legs, hissed the last few words with eerie smoothness.

"That's not true. You're different. I should kill you for what you've done to all of us, especially Nova. Do you know she still hates the cold, and that Otto nearly cried when Chiro first found out who you were?" Repulsion was obvious as the words left his lips.

"Did he, now?" There was no sarcasm or hatred in the inner depths of the statement. Then, he leaned forward. "You know, you're the last monkey in this world that I'd expect to pathetically wallow in his self-pity after all these years. Habits change, eh Sparky?"

The other primate snarled. It was terrifying, especially on a face that was usually full of smiles and laughter. "You'd know all about changing into a different person, wouldn't you? Traitor!"

The scarred simian remained calm in appearance. "Say whatever you like about me, SPRX-77, but your petty name-calling will not chase away your inner demons. You need to let go and forgive yourself. She did, or do you still imagine her pretty face contorted in horror?"

"Shut up."

"Nobody blames you. Not anymore. You torment yourself. You hold grudges, and let your emotions be the chains that bind your soul,"

"Shut up!" Silver fingers pushed hard against the hard surface of his home. "I hate you! You're the one who'll never change!"

"Who knows? Keep this up, and Lord of Evil might even find a way to make you his favorite play thing,"

"I SAID SHUT UP!" Sprx's horrible features turned a bright violet. "I hurt her. I hurt Nova. I hurt my family. They'll never look at me the same way again. I'm weak. I'm a fool." he seethed.

Mandarin raised his eyebrows and crossed his arms. "A fool is one who acts unwisely and never mends his mistakes. You, of all, should understand that. The boy learns from his mistakes. Even the great Antauri knows when to fix his errors."

"You never learned for yours," Those words were meant to hurt. Dark retribution.

"...And do you want to be exactly like me?"

A fight was expected to break out. The red primate would've given anything to leap onto his ex-leader and claws his eyes out with his blunt digits. As the last words started to sink in, his visage barely softened. There was complete silence. Due to his inner restraints, all he could do was stare into Mandarin's deep, grim pupils. They were like a grim prophecy for their futures.

Laced with darkness, knowledge, and blood.
