A/N: This is the first of a bunch of drabbles/vignettes that are inspired by/based off of quotes from the movie, songs that I think fit with the characters, and scenes that I think would have occured in the lives of Jack, Bobby, Angel, and Jerry. This first is sort of a double drabble.
What's that? Growing up without a father, nobody taught you anything did they? I should have stayed around longer and held your little hand, huh, sweetheart? –Bobby
Jack folded his lips and lifted his chin, an intimidating stance that showed his full height. Bobby had to admit that with a little training, Jack could look intimidating. But not to him. Because he knew that when Jack did this, he was more vulnerable than ever.
Bobby sighed, searching for words. He wasn't good with words. Jack was the one who wrote the songs. Jerry was the one with the smarts. Bobby had brawn and a temper. And neither of those things would help fix what he had just said to Jack.
He had nailed it on the head, really. It wasn't the insult that hurt—those flew right and left in a house with four brothers—but it was the truth of the statement. I should have stayed around longer…. Growing up without a father, nobody taught you…
The event passed with incident. But in his dreams that night, Bobby saw Jack eight years before, saying in the darkness of the night, "I'll do anything, I'll let you teach me to play hockey. Just please stay…"
