A/N: Hello, all. :D I'm in a joyful mood and thought I'd write a bit of fluff. This is what comes from cute boys talking to me and being HP-high and being bored in history class. Oops.

Love and Light

Her world was always lighter when he was around. He made her smile, and always left her laughing when he was gone. It had gotten to the point where she didn't want to be away from him, which was ironic, because only a year before, she'd hated him.

This love for him got her to break the rules. It was nearly midnight on a Friday, and she was lying in the soft grass by the lake. He was lying next to her, his calloused fingers laced through hers. She felt warm, like her heart was suddenly glowing.

He had always come off as insensitive and arrogant; a bully. She'd never realized that it was a front until she'd been forced to give him a chance. She soon found that he was intelligent, sweet, and easy to talk to. She quickly fell in love with him, though it took a while to admit this aloud.

He turned to face her. "You know," he whispered, the moonlight glinting off of his glasses, "you're beautiful."

He studied her, hazel eyes meeting green ones. He reached out a hand and tucked a lock of red hair behind her ear. His hand lingered, offering its warmth to her soft skin. The barest hint of a smile was on his lips.

She said nothing, but instead moved closer to him, laying her head on his shoulder. He adjusted his position so that his arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer.

She could hear his heart beating, steady and sure. It was proof that he was living; proof that this was real. It wasn't assurance that he wouldn't be taken from her by the war that was raging outside of the castle grounds, but it was good enough for her tonight.

He pressed her lips to her forehead and then rested his cheek against the spot. "I love you, Lily,"

She smiled into him and softly replied, "I love you, too, James."
