Disclaimer: I do not own Firefly, Star Wars, or Battle Star Galactica

(post Serenity. AU Star Wars due only to the fact I haven't kept up with enough of the novels. Last one read was when Luke and Mara Jade discovered they loved each other)

(before any comments, positive or negative, read the reason behind this insanity that I've put at the end of this chapter)

Mal and the rest with the exception of River stared in wide-eyed shock at the huge space battle taking place in the distance. It was close enough to make out details, but they weren't in immediate danger of crossfire.

River hummed to herself as she stared calmly at the chaos.

"So Captain. Any ideas?" Zoe asked.

"Not a one. You?"

River grinned. "They've bit off more than they can chew."

"What?"

"The machine men and women."

Mal shook his head and looked at Simon. "Can you understand her? Because I can't."

"Silly." River said. "It should be obvious."

"What is?"

River waved at the battle. "Except the machines, they're all humans or some kind of alien race."

"River…" Simon started to say.

"Simon. We've never been alone in the verse. We've just been alone where we chose to live"

As they continued to watch the battle, each one wondered silently what it was all about.

(insert Divider Line)

As the battle progressed, the Alliance exploration ships started to get the upper hand thanks to information updates from the human refugee fleet that they were protecting.

Luke stared in a direction to something in the distance off to the side. He smiled as he picked up a strange yet human mind.

"She could almost be a jedi…" He thought to himself.

"Luke?" Mara asked.

He shook his head and turned toward her. "Later. But I think we might have found a way to get more information about Earth. Both for our people, and theirs." He said as he waved his hand toward Galactica and those the ship and crew guarded.

"But first…" He said as he focused back on the battle. "We figure out how to get these Cylons to surrender."

Basestars and fighters alike continued to fall to weapons their armor had never been designed to withstand.

"Remind me to thank the captain for overstocking on torpedoes and extra ships."

(now for the reason. A friend told me about an interview George Lucas gave once, in which he mentioned that in old archives in the Star Wars Universe, there was mention of a planet called Earth. The statement in turn sparked an author to write a book to that effect. I have no idea what the title is, because my friend can't remember.)
