Snowball

"You can't be serious Potter!"

Piercing green eyes glared back at the blond who had spoken. "I'm very serious Draco."

The blond remained stubborn. He would not tolerate it. "No. I told you Harry, I do not want that thing in the dorm!" and then Draco's downfall: that adorable puppy-dog face. But he did his best to ignore it, putting his foot down. "No!" Harry's face took on a disappointed pout as he stared longingly at the thing in his lap. Pleading eyes looked up into pools of grey. "We can't just leave it out here, Dray." Draco huffed at the use of his pet name.

"Then give it to Hagrid. I bet he'd just about piss his pants with joy. He'd just love to take it off our hands." And dammit, those eyes were pleading again.

"Please Draco! I want to keep it." Harry practically begged. Draco grimaced and looked once more to the white ball of fluff in his friend's lap. Gods, just the thought of that white stuff all over his robes made him shudder. And the responsibilities. It was a nightmare waiting to happen. Draco knew if he allowed it, he would regret it the rest of his life.

No, he would not allow it. He couldn't. Then Draco looked down into Harry's eyes, ready to say no one final time, and sighed.

Ron stared across the room at his best mate playing with a tiny, white furball. He shook his head and mused that Harry was so easily satisfied. After a short while the redhead's eyes drifted to the blond sitting next to him. A small smirk inched its way onto his face. "So Malfoy, you let him keep it after all, eh?"

Draco just glanced at Ron, not saying a word for a moment. His grey eyes returned to watching Harry as he said, "Of course, Weasley. He wanted to keep the damned thing and I realized I could do nothing to stop him if he was truly determined to not let it go. So I let him keep it." Ron's gaze returned to the raven-haired boy. He smiled at Harry's obvious enjoyment with their new addition to the dorms.

"Draco Malfoy, you are so whipped."

Draco turned to glare at the redhead but then stopped and shrugged. "I suppose you're right," he said, "for once." Ron glared right back at him and they both resumed their observation of Harry.

And that is the story of how Harry Potter convinced Draco Malfoy to let him keep the fluffy, white kitten. They of course called him Snowball.
