Done last semester during writing practice as a written piece to the topic "Fire". Just a moment in Luffy's childhood.

"Fire!" The flame ablaze licked along the surfaces of the logs as they jaggedly sat atop of each other. The crackle of the flames echoed around the small site enclosed by a few boulders and over hanging trees.

"Don't get too close." A warning came from next to the first voice. A heart-filled laugh answered back.

" Aww. Come on Ace. Nothing can hurt me now." Luffy said, his loud voice bouncing off the boulders losing itself in the fields. The little boy of ten ran around the small bonfire that his brother had made.

"That was so cool Ace, how you rubbed those two sticks together and made fire. I always thought wood was afraid of fire." Luffy said stopping for a moment to smile at Ace before hopping around again. "Or, or the sun gets too close and spits on us. That would be funny." Luffy continued in his childlike knowledge as he walked almost into the fire.

"Luffy remember the how you said you wanted to be an elastic band?" Ace asked, small smile remained on his face as he leaned back against a small boulder perturbing from the earth.

"Haha, I remember that. I wonder how far I could throw things. Probably further then you Ace!"

"Never but that's not the point. Remember the elastic band yesterday and how it fell into the candle?"

"Oh yeah."

"And what happened?"

"It melted. It was cool though!" Luffy said laughing again.

"But it melted. You're rubber. What would everyone think if you melted away?"

"They'd wonder how I managed to slip into the storage so easily."

"That's…well that would be...no, no, that's not the point." Ace said shaking away the thought of easily slipping past unsuspecting people. No sooner though then he thought that, his eyelids drooped down and he fell forward, the tips of his hair coming very close to the fire. Luffy came to stand next to his brother, a smile still on chubby cheeks.

"Ano, Ace…Ace?" Luffy asked poking Ace's covered back. He looked at his brother for a moment before laughing. Reaching down he grabbed two fist full of Ace's shirt and pulled with all his might to pull his brother back a bit.

"Hehe silly Ace. Trying to be part fire." He giggled to no one in particular. A few minutes of pulling and using his teeth as well Luffy had Ace collapsed on his stomach and sleeping away, while the backpack that Luffy had brought sat between his legs.

A groan was heard and bleary eyes above freckled cheeks open to see Luffy's head and arms submerged in the backpack.

"Oi Luffy! Leave enough for me!" Ace said groggily watching a head resurface, mouth filled with marshmallows and assorted foods.

"Bmt Ihmg hunwgw." Luffy mumbled while his mouth was full. Ace sighed sitting up and leaning back on his hands. His brother pulled out of the bag sitting down next to Ace. Ace felt tugging on his sleeve and looked down at Luffy.

"What?"

"I'm still hungry." He pouted. Ace looked around before turning back to Luffy.

"I heard farmer Ruzio has watermelons out in his field." Ace said with a smirk watching Luffy's eyes widen.

"Sugei!" He shouted, mouth watering and scampering off out of the clearing and into the field. Ace smiled and fell backwards arms spread wide. A few minutes into the silence Ace heard the barks of a dog followed by farmer Ruzio's yells.

He wondered how many watermelons Luffy had gotten before he was caught.
