Journal,
I was once told by Daddy that keeping a journal makes you think a bit more. With Aunty Liate and Abby having moved in seven years ago (has it really been that long???) I think I need some more thinking.
Yesterday was my birthday, I got this blank book, a yellow sweater that screams 'Abby' and a new bike. My old red, BMX was in an unfortunate accident with Liate's car. Of course, I was grounded and wasn't allowed to fix it - it was sold as parts.
Abby had her room painted an apricot pink. It looks odd because, the old green paint is still visable underneath. Liate is having the painter in next week to fix up that mess.

Journal.
School starts again tomorrow. We went to London today, to get new things. Because I'm in Grade 7 this year, I'm not allowed to wear pants anymore - I need to wear a skirt and plait my hair and not play football at break.
The uniform is awful - a navy skirt, white blouse, navy tights or knee socks and school shoes. We have to wear a blazer and gloves in winter, as well.
Abby got a siamese cat from her father, Mr Osbourne. She named it Dominique and is something I'd like to take target practice on. Actually, Liate doesn't know it, but I took Daddy's old BMW to the hunting grounds last night and practiced driving. The car now has two flat tires, a dent in the boot and my wrist is swollen. Maybe next time I'll take the Norton.

J,
School. Why couldn't my father have gotten me home schooled? Sophie Grant went to the Bahamas for her break and I stayed here with Liate and Abby. I don't even like shopping, but it still would've been nice to get out of this rut.
Liate cleared out the attic last night and gave me all Mummy's journals and jewelry. My old baby stuff is packed away with Abby's.
Anyway, I asked about Abby's father - I heard Liate talking to Mr Wilson. She's turning 28 this year. Which means Abby was born when she was 15. I asked her abot Abby's father - who is known as Mr Fletcher in my house.
Liate told me that Mr Fletcher did not wish to marry her, and was marriedwith two children of his own - Mildred and Camilla (what gross names) and lived in Heathrow.
Anyway, I was listening to her on the phone and Mr Fletcher (Hamish) wants Abby to live with him. Liate told him that she was looking after 'the young Croft girl' and owed it to her brother to keep Abby as a companion for me.
Having Abby as a companion is like having a dead snake as a companion.
Lara.
