Breathe Again

Remus has never been a strong swimmer.

Actually, he avoids it whenever he can because he'd rather stay on solid ground, dry with a good book.

And so, we have a problem, because Remus tries to steer clear or stay afloat, because the water always finds him first.

And then, there's no avoiding it when it hits him.

You see, Sirius is like a magnificent typhoon because he floods anyone in his path with admiration, wonder and worship.

But there's no danger of water. As we know, Remus avoids it when he can. But there's no escape because every time they cross paths, it's like his heart stops.

His nerves tingle and he feels numb from of the lack of oxygen he gets when he holds his breath because he's submerged underwater by the thrashing storm.

He's sinking because his stomach feels like a block of lead, dragging him down,

down,

down,

down

into the dark lonely depths that is the sea.

But somehow his feet can't find the vast ocean floors. His head swirls in emotion and dizziness and he can't swim, he can't move.

Not when he's around.

His lungs are going to explode if he can't break the surface soon.

He can see that handsome, smiling face reflecting in every tiny air bubble that trickles out of the corners of his own mouth. They surround him for a moment, lingering and dancing around his face.

It is only when the air bubbles float upwards and away from him, vanishing in the clearing watery light until Remus can finally breathe again.
