I am taking a Creative Writing course and this is my first poem. For the excersise we had to pick a scene from our favorite movie and write a poem from the view of one of the characters in that scene. I chose the rooftop scene from POTP. I had to read mine to the class, and I did not think it was that good, but my teacher said that it gave her chills, so I decided to put it up. I hope you like and review it, and please remember that this is my first attempt at poetry.

View From Behind the Statue

I see her come through the door

Into the cold night air

It is my love! The song in my heart!

Another enters, it is that scoundrel Raoul!

How I loathe he who tries to take my sweet Christine away from me!

She is frightened, and he now comforts her

She drops my rose, the symbol of my love and devotion

And as it falls, so does my heart drop

They kiss

How can she love him?

He only loves her for her voice, I love her whole being!

I worship her every movement!

I taught her everything she knows!

I shared my music with her!

And now, she forsakes me!

They leave, and all that is left is the rose

I go to it, and tears fall from my face.

I crush it, as she has crushed my heart

The two will pay for not obeying me!
