"Hey 'Ray!"

Sharpay's head snapped up from the music she had been concentrating onto find Chad. "You haven't called me that in ages," she smirked as he sat next to her on the floor of the stage.

He pulled off her black bottle-cap glasses, saying, "And I haven't seen you wear these in ages." She snatched them from him and put them back on with a slight adittude. "What's up with you?" he asked nonchalantly.

"Oh, no you don't, Chad Danforth," she snapped at him crossly. "You are not going to start that whole 'best friend' thing with me again, just because things have changed. I've changed. You've changed. We've..." He cut her coherant babling off with his lips pressed to hers and then quickly pulled away. "Changed," she sighed the ending of her ramble.

"'Ray..." Chad started, receiving a glare from Sharpay that told him to correct himself. "Sharpay, you're my best friend. You always have been," he told her.

"That's all over with now," she said, pulling her sheets of music together just wanting to get away from him and his obscene fantasies.

"Sharpay..." he said, trying to reason with her.

"Go to hell, Chad," she shouted, letting it echo through out the room as she stood up to leave.

As she left, she prayed he'd chase after her. But he never did. He just sat on the stage, watching leave and watching the doors to the auditorium long after she had vanished through them. Just sat there, watching and waiting as if she was going to run out to him and embrace him with open arms. But they both knew it would never happen, so long as they knew who they were.

My tears are turning into time
I've wasted trying to find
A reason for goodbye...
