The last night of our stay arrived much too quickly. As I dressed, I realized that I was actually nervous about a date with Sam Thomas. Sam Thomas, who had placed three prank calls to the club during our first meeting ever. Sam Thomas who had been following me around for the past two weeks like a puppy dog. The same Sam Thomas who I had had a major crush on during my first few months as being a member of the club. Could I now be falling for Sam?

Claudia squeezed my shoulder gently as we walked toward the lodge. "Don't worry--you give me the blink signal and I'll come to the rescue." I nodded and felt a hand grasp mine as Claudia walked away. Sam was holding my hand! "Do you want to dance?" he asked softly. I nodded, and just then, a slow song came on. Sam led me onto the dance floor. He stepped a half-step closer to me and linked his arms loosely around my waist.

As we danced, I saw Claudia abandoning her partner and coming towards me! I must have blinked! I shook my head and waved her away frantically. Sam was in his own little world, and didn't notice.

"Sam…" I began to say that he was an okay guy, but he surprised me yet again. He drew me closer--to the brink of his little world--and placed a gentle kiss on my cheek. Has Sam always been like this? I wondered. And as his little world became larger to include me, I realized that he had.
