This is based on the Lunchtime scene from You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. You know, the one where Charlie Brown puts the lunchbag over his head because the little red-haired girl looks at him?Enjoy.

Lunchtime is the worst time of the day for me.

Well, not really, but it's the time where all of my friends go off in their little groups and I have to wander around between them to find a table. Today I'm sitting with Violet and Frieda, who's going on about her natural curly hair. I don't see what's wrong with straight hair. When your hair is straight, it's easier to pull up in a pony-tail or in pigtails or just let it fall down your back. But it does tend to get in your eyes when you do that.

I took out my sandwich. Peanut Butter and Jelly. Some people say that people who eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are lonely. I looked around. Frieda and Violet were talking about Patty's new dress, paying no attention to me. I guess some people are right.

I looked over at the benches near the gym. That round-headed kid was sitting there, alone. He's usually alone. I like his shirt. It has that neat black zig-zag mark on it. Wonder were he got that shirt? I've never seen him wear anything else. He's kind of cute, actually, in a blockhead-sort-of-way. He's eating a sandwich.

I don't know how long I've been looking at him. He hasn't looked up at me all day. I wonder why he doesn't look at me. It's natural to look at a human being. I'm a human being. Why doesn't he look at me?

He looks up at me.

I blush. He is cute.

I look away.

When I look back he's put his lunchbag over his head.

Huh.

Where did he get such a big lunchbag?

Just then, Violet grabs my arm and pulls me away so she can show me patty's new dress. As I leave, I steal one last glance at the round-headed kid. He's still got a bag over his head.

Ah well, one more lunchtime over. Just another 2,842 to go. I think. I'm not very good at algebra.
