Ever since their first meeting, her being three years old and him eight, Itachi knew that the Hyuuga heiress is special. At first, his feelings towards her is only interest and nothing more. At age three, her seemingly frail body and mind has gotten her the title of the Hyuuga failure; Itachi sees much more past this. She is strong in her own way and Itachi pities the rest of the Hyuuga household for not being able to see it for themselves.

Being known as a genius, Itachi, age ten, feels like an idiot for not being able to understand himself until now. He has been watching her for two years now, and only after two years does he realize that he feels more for the five year old girl than just simple interest. Hinata is his first crush and Itachi is not ashamed.

Itachi is now twelve and his father speaks of marriage. Going through every respectable clan in Konoha, his father tries to find him a bride. The Hyuugas are not mentioned and Itachi is disappointed. He suggests Hinata as a possible candidate, justifying his actions by explaining that if the two clans were joined, they would be unstoppable. Itachi sees that his father is tempted for a Hyuuga daughter-in-law, but refuses, saying it is wrong for Itachi to have such thoughts for a seven year old. Itachi doesn't bring up Hinata again.

The Uchiha clan now consists of only two members but the rest of Konoha does not know this fact as of yet. It's night time, and Itachi, age thirteen, sneaks into the Hyuuga household to say goodbye to his white-eyed princess. Hinata is surprised to see a visitor in her sleeping chambers but says nothing because it's Itachi. The eight year old knows almost nothing of the older boy except for the fact that he is Sasuke's older brother. She stares at him and he stares back. Unexpectedly, Hinata loses her first kiss. He is gone before she knows it.

A few years pass and Itachi finds himself back in Konoha after hearing some unsettling news. Hyuuga Hinata does not recognize the man leaning against the door frame of the entrance to the Hyuuga estate, but she thinks nothing of it. He thinks she looks beautiful in her wedding dress and is sadden by the fact that it is Hyuuga Neji who stands beside her and not Itachi himself.

He is not a murderer, nor is he a pedophile. Today, Uchiha Itachi is simply seventeen and madly in love with twelve year old Hyuuga Hinata.
