A Brother's Love

"Seto, it's late. You should get some sleep," Mokuba Kaiba told his elder brother as he stifled a yawn behind his hand. He glanced towards the digital clock resting on his brother's desk. It was now going on 1:00 AM in the morning.

The brown-haired teenager looked up from his computer, a blank expression on his face. "I don't have time for sleep, Mokuba. I'm extremely busy at the moment."

Mokuba sighed. "You're always busy. Ever since you took over Kaiba-Corp, all you've been doing is working. Before that, even, thanks to Gozaburo. And ever since then, I never see you smile anymore." He focused his gaze on the floor, his eyes filled with sorrow.

Seto sighed. "Mokuba, you and I both know I have a company to run, that's my main priority. And as far as Gozaburo goes…it doesn't matter anymore. He used to be in charge of Kaiba-Corp, but he didn't have what it takes to be a true businessman. So I stepped up to take his place."

"Alright, I understand…" Mokuba mumbled under his breath. But really, he didn't understand, and he didn't like how his brother ignored the comment he made about him showing a lack of positive emotion.

He slowly turned around and walked out the door, his slippered feet rubbing softly against the carpet in the hallway. He loved his brother more than anything, he truly did! …But sometimes he just wished that Seto's younger and more cheerful personality would surface. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like that would be happening anytime soon.

He stopped in front of a linen closet halfway down the hall. The door creaked as he pulled it open. Standing on tiptoe, he reached up to the top shelf to pull down a blanket and a pillow, before shutting the door quietly behind him and making his way back towards his brother's office. As much as Mokuba wanted his brother back to his old self, he decided for the time being that he would just have to make do with the way he was now.

He knocked lightly on the door of Seto's office before re-entering, causing the older boy to look up as he walked in. He made his way over to a chair in the corner of the room, being careful so as not to trip on the fleece trailing on the floor behind him.

"I brought you these in case you got tired," Mokuba explained, his voice muffled behind the fluffy pillow. He set it down on the chair with the blanket, before walking over to give his brother a hug and then sitting down in another chair that was opposite the desk.

For a moment, Seto didn't say anything. Then- "Thanks kid," he whispered softly, ruffling the younger boy's hair. For a brief moment, Mokuba could have sworn he saw a faint smile creep onto the other boy's face.

He grinned brightly. "Don't mention it." Then he curled up on the chair and watched Seto continue to work.

Several hours later, Seto finally looked up from his computer to gaze over at Mokuba. The younger boy had fallen asleep in his chair, his long black hair drifting into his blue-grey eyes.

The businessman stood up from his desk, before picking his brother up off the chair and beginning to carry him down the hallway to the boy's room. He opened the door slowly and carefully so as not to waken the sleeping boy, and set him down on the bed, gently pulling the patterned quilt around him.

Straightening up, he turned around and began walking out of the room. " 'Night Seto," he heard Mokuba call to him sleepily.

Once again, what could have been traces of a smile drifted across Kaiba's face. "Good night, Mokuba," he said softly as he closed the door behind him.
