That Toy Chocobo

Kadaj had decided. His resolve had been made and no-one, no-one, could change his mind about it.

"That toy chocobo is absolutely ridiculous."

Course such a wise and accurate statement didn't hold much power when if came from a short naked teen sitting in a bubble-filled bathtub, completely alone and with no-one to listen to him.

Except for that toy chocobo. Yellow rubber body... Beady little eyes... Dark twisted soul...

Why Loz had wanted such a thing, he couldn't comprehend. His eldest brother seemed to have a thing for giant yellow birds that went 'wark.' Yazoo didn't help much either. His middle brother seemed to have a thing against the word 'no.'

So now he got to come back to their temporary home to shower with... That toy chocobo.

Regardless, he would make the situation work for him. Sliding down into the bathwater so that only his head was seen above the pink bubbles, he glared at that toy chocobo some more. When he grew tired of simply glaring, he made his move.

"Where's Mother?" he demanded, cat-like green eyes narrowed.

That toy chocobo didn't even bother to respond.

Kadaj growled. "I asked you; where's Mother?"

Still... That toy chocobo defied him by refusing to speak.

This time, the teen had given-up on simple questions and made a grab for that toy chocobo, ready to repeat his question in the most fear-inducing way he knew.

Then it squeaked.

Kadaj tilted his head and gave it another squeeze.

It squeaked again.

Raising an eyebrow, he gave one last experimental squeeze.

It squeaked once more.

Satisfied with the results of his experiment, he brought the toy towards him. "Where's Mother?" He slowly tightened his fist around it, listening to the long drawn out squeeeeaaak.

Kadaj sighed and tossed it at the sink, not caring that it went in perfectly. Or that it squeaked upon landing.

That toy chocobo didn't know anything.
