Be Careful What You Wish For
A Hermione Granger Story
Part II- Muffins and Elaborate Schemes
"That's it!" Hermione screamed in excitement, "that's it!"
"Miss Granger, you seem to be in fine condition, you may leave if you wish." Madam Pomfrey said. After Hermione collapsed, she wound up in the hospital wing. She was only there for a few hours, but in the time she grew very impatient.
"Thank you Madam Pomfrey, my apologies for yelling." Hermione ran out of that place as fast as a drunken cheetah chasing after a piece of meat being trailed along a string from the back of an SUV.
Hermione had to find Theodore. Where could he be? Where could he possibly go? He's only been here for a day, he couldn't possibly know his way around the entire school. Where would I be right now if I were a boy? Hermione tried to think like a boy... If I were a boy- Hermione's thoughts had been interrupted. Crabbe was eating a cupcake and not watching where he was going, thusly, the two managed to bump heads, or bodies rather. Hermione and Crabbe were sprawled out on the floor while Goyle was reaching towards Crabbe's other muffin. Great brutes. Hey! That's it! The Great Hall!
Hermione walked into the Great Hall to see Harry and Ron eating with Theodore. Without saying a word, Hermione grabbed Theodore by his robes and pulled him into the nearest classroom.
"I can't have my friends knowing what or who you are. Bears don't come to life in the magical world anymore than they do in the human world. There'd be no logical explanation they'd listen to. Have you told them anything about yourself?"
"No," Theodore shook his head animatedly.
"Good. We're going to have to give you a new name. What do you feel about Roger?"
"Roger? Heavens no! It sounds so weird, and... Geriatric!"
"Gustave?"
"No, that doesn't sound right either..." Theodore mused.
"Alright, what would you pick then?" Hermione challenged.
"How about Sam? You know, short for Samuel."
"Alright, it'll have to work," Hermione replied. "Oh, by the way, there's another thing we have to sort out too. You're going to have to pretend to be my boyfriend."
The two returned to the Great Hall, and sat back down with Ron and Harry as though nothing had happened.
"How are you feeling Hermione?" Harry asked immediately.
"I'm feeling a lot better actually, I was just a little bit under the weather, but Madam Pomfrey was quick to throw me out. She almost thought I was just trying to get out of classes. Then she remembered who she was talking about." Ron and Harry gave polite laughs at that.
"Who's this, by the way? We were just getting to know him before you kidnapped him away just now," Harry said.
"This is Samuel. He's from Durmstrang initially, but we met over summer and he'd been mentioning coming to Hogwarts a lot in his owls. I didn't think he was serious, but now here he is!"
P.O.V. Change
Hermione had entered Albus' office with a strange boy whom Dumbledore hadn't remembered yet meeting.
"Welcome, Miss Granger and-" Albus gave Theodore an inquisitive look.
"Samuel."
"Ah, Samuel, nice to meet you," Albus greeted, giving the boy a polite handshake.
"Professor," Hermione chimed in, "We're here because, well, I'm here because,... It's hard to explain. Samuel isn't a real boy. Things haven't been going very well lately and Harry's seemed to have developed a crush on me, and I made a wish upon my wishing star and all of a sudden my stuffed bear came to life and now he's here and I'm not sure what to do!"
"Hermione, are you saying Samuel is your stuffed bear?"
"Precisely." Dumbledore howled with laughter.
"Professor?"
"Yes, Hermione?" He was clutching at his stomach with one hand and wiping tears of laughter away from his eyes with the other.
"This doesn't seem to be a very funny situation. Am I going to be expelled?"
"No, of course not. We'll just have to make arrangements for Samuel to remain here as a student for the time being, while we try to figure out something we can do otherwise."
"Thank you Professor, you're the best!" Hermione exclaimed. She had to refrain herself from hugging the headmaster before the two students left the office.
