One shot…sorry my multi-chapter stories may never be finished!

R&R please! I OWN NOTHING!...so don't sue…..

He was worn out. He was tired of life as he had come to know it. Each day more mundane then the last. He felt washed out as though he were a cloth left out in the sun. James Wilson was tired of everything. He was tired of House and his bitter biting comments that always sank their teeth deeper then he could ever know. He wouldn't ever know, because James Wilson didn't want House to consider him to be a burden. He didn't want House to think that he needed to lean on him like House leaned on Wilson. House wouldn't ever admit that he needed Wilson. He didn't think Wilson needed to know. But maybe he did. Maybe a 'thank you' would suffice. Maybe it would help bring the tired oncologist out of his rut.

House sat in his office and thought. Wilson wasn't at work. He was, as far as Greg knew, still asleep on the couch. Truth be told, House didn't have the heart to wake him up after the night he must have had. House had heard him crying, though it was muffled by his pillow. Later on when he had gone to check on him he had seen how fitfully he slept, tossing and turning with every pitiful whimper. House remembered how his hand had moved on its own and had brushed Wilson's bangs away from his forehead. He remembered how he had felt slightly feverish and he wondered how he was now.

Wilson sighed and got off of the couch. He walked slowly into the kitchen, his legs feeling heavy with sleep. He grabbed a soda and went into House's bedroom. Normally he would have thought this off limits, but today he just wanted to sleep in a bed. He flopped down on the bed and pulled the covers up around him. Did House care at all? He doubted it. He hadn't even woken him up like he had promised to. H didn't care at all.

House came home and expected to see Wilson on the couch like he had been earlier. But the couch was empty. House told himself not to be surprised. He went into his room and saw Wilson lying on the bed the covers wrapped tightly around him. House smiled and shook his head and sat down on the edge of the bed next to Wilson. "Hey….Jimmy….wake up." James opened his eyes "Wha….sorry." He struggled against the blankets to sit up but House just made him lay back down. "Just stay." House told him softly, almost tenderly. He got up then and hobbled out of the room as James stared after him owl-eyed with shock.

Later House re-entered his room and lay down next to Wilson. He listened to his friends soft breathing as he slept. House smiled in the dark and shifted his arms so that they cradled his best friend.

Wilson awoke in the morning feeling strangely warm. After a moment he realized that there were arms hugging him and that they were House's. Wilson smiled at his friend and fell back asleep outside of his rut for the first time in a long time.

The End…..how cutely sappy eh? Oh well you know the drill read and review for a happy writer!
