"…Because I love you."
I frowned, obviously displeased with this statement. There was a huge difference between loving someone and being in love with them. And in this case, Yuffie only loved me.
She chuckled, "You're my best friend, Sora. You have been for like…ever now. You have to be totally insane to doubt whether I care for you or not."
She tousled my hair and smiled. I leaned back in my seat and continued observing her. She had nice features, big brown eyes, and short, black hair that always seemed to be in a mess. Yuffie honestly had no idea how madly in love I was with her. Yes, in love—not love, IN love. It had never bothered me before how immensely different the two terms were until Yuffie came along. She was driving me insane. She always said "love". Like…the love you have for a family member—or a one-sided love you have for a non-living object. Take chocolate for example. Yuffie loves chocolate. So what does she say every time she sees it? "Oh my Gawd! I love chocolate."
At one point, she used the word too much; it became quite meaningless to me. Like when she says "I love you, Sora. You're the best—thanks for the gift ." it only reminds me that I play the best friend/brother role; which is quite depressing. I'm basically stuck in the friend zone. But honestly, I would much rather be in the friend zone than not in Yuffie's life at all. If she ever found out how I really felt about her and didn't feel the same way, she'd probably stop talking to me. And seriously, life would be lame without Yuffie. My life would be, anyway.
"You're staring at me all zombie-like. It's starting to creep me out." She said, obvious laughter in her tone.
I shook my head slightly and turned away from her, stuttering out a pathetic apology.
I watched as she took a few of the fries from my tray and smiled sheepishly up at me. We always shared food. Well…I shared my food with Yuffie. But she gave me that same goofy grin every time she 'stole' some of my food. Like I really cared—if she didn't take it, I would have offered them. I can't really complain though, I'm in love with that smile.
I started comparing myself to Yuffie then, and realized we were really nothing alike. We were actually total opposites. It was shocking to people when they first found out we were bestfriends. I suppose we balanced each other out, though.
I snuck another glance at her and thought, what was the worst that could happen?
"Hey…Yuffie?"
Ok…there was rejection, embarrassment, and possibly the chance of losing my best friend—but that's what it's all about, right? Taking that risk? You put yourself out there and just hope they like you back.
"Yeah?"
Her eyes darted towards me, leaving the blonde boy seated in the corner of the café. She'd been staring at him for the past few minutes. I chuckled and realized I couldn't go through with it. I was too weak.
"…You're starting to drool. Close your mouth."
She threw a fry at me and that was the end of that. Perhaps I'd tell her another day.

ugh. Lame. Lame. Lame.I know. But don't eat my face,
Please.
It was just a random thing that came up in my head
I had to write it out.
