Because I love L.M. Montgomery, her books, and especially her characters and her language. Title is borrowed from the beautiful book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery (the man who wrote The Little Prince).

Prophecy of Shadows

She saw the Piper that day, too, though she never told anyone, and heard the eerie song. She felt caught in the chill of a winter wind, though it was September, and shivered alone.

Jem welcomed him with laughter and open arms, and that was who Jem was. Jerry accepted it as a grand adventure, as he always did, and to Carl it was another new experiment, and Shirley trudged on, determined and loyal.

But Walter was a prophet from birth, and saw him for what he was. And because she loved him, even then, she saw through his eyes.
