The setting of the scene is a dark night illuminated by the full moon; the gloomy sky clear filled with the echoing of dogs barking, loud and fierce.

Who would have known the moon caused such trouble for an innocent, kind-hearted wizard…

Remus Lupin had been captured and was now on the grimy floor of a cell in a muggle dog pound. Needless to say, he had taken his Wolfsbane potion. He'd crawled into a corner, losing all hope and preparing himself for a long night…

Until Tonks had shown up.

"You can't have the dog," said the man behind the desk. Another man next to him slammed his desk to quieten the other barking dogs in their cells.

"But-"

"You see, we haven't really seen this type of species before."

"No-"

"And we need to examine him."

"Can't-"

"This is the discovery of a new species, we can't just let you have him."

"You-" Tonks started again.

"Plus, were going to make sure he's not rabid or-"

"You're going to run experiments on my Remus?"

"Miss," the man began brusquely, "you don't seem to understand…"

"No, you don't understand," Tonks corrected him.

"Miss-"

"HE'S MY REMUS AND YOU CAN'T HAVE HIM!" Tonks shouted at the top of her lungs

Suddenly it was quiet and even the dogs had got into silence. All that was heard was Tonks' heavy breathing and the painful whining coming from Remus.

Tonks unlocked Remus' cell and picked him up with unbelievable strength. She left the pound carrying Remus in her arms, soothing him with soft comforting whispers, and walked in the moonlight until she found a nearby tree. She hid behind it and Disapparated so she was unseen to the Muggles.

But before Tonks disappeared into the hours of darkness, she hissed at the dogcatchers, "You're all a bunch of Remus thieves." Her eyes flared with anger. "Does your mother know what you're doing?" She made no time for them to respond. "You ought to be ashamed of yourselves."

The doors slammed shut as she exited and one of the men promptly snorted.

"The way she goes on about that dog, you'd think it was her boyfriend."
