I was in a writing mood. Especially after being deprived for so long. Writing is like the only thing keeping me sane without Grey's which I'm sure sounds really pathetic. Anyway on with the story.
Wonder Why We Ever Go Home
He turned the door knob. " You ready?" he asked. They had come home for the weekend to collect some things.
" Yeah," She said, preparing herself to go back into her home.
He opened the door. Derek picked up the bags and walked inside. Addison stayed outside for a minute, scaling the house brick by brick.
" Addi?" He asked concerned.
" Coming." She nervously entered her house. Nothing had changed. The ring that Derek left one morning with his cup of coffee was still on the kitchen table. The stain from the night Addi got a little too drunk and puked was still on the carpet. The crossword puzzle Derek had been working on the morning before the incident was still on the table. It still smelled like Addi's favorite Yankee Candle, Juicy Grapefruit. The door to his room was still locked. It was all the same.
He stopped at the infamous door." Did you ever...I mean after I..?" She knew
" Everyday," She answered honestly. His face fell. " It's not your fault." She reminded him.
" Do you think...since we won't be back for a while and all?"
She took a moment of consideration, before repling. " Go ahead." He unlocked the door, then opened it. Derek walked in.
" It's ok." He reassured her. It all looked the same. The navy walls that had SPENCERspelled out in wooden wall letters. The crib still had the same sheets on it, the ones with the little moons. A moblie that matched the sheet hung above the crib. A white wooden rocking chair was placed in the corner. Next to it was the changing table with diapers, wet clothes, and baby powder still on it. In the dresser there was various clothing. Hand in hand, they walked to the same spot next to the crib. The last place they had ever seen their son alive. Addison started to cry.
"Shh, it's ok," he took her into a hug. "You're ok. He's ok." She kept crying. It had all been so sudden.Too sudden. He just died. No warning. They just woke up one morning and he wasn't alive. Then, Derek started to silently cry.
" Oh, God, I hope he's ok," Addi said throught tears.
" He's ok." Derek persistted while he kissed her forehead, " Everything's ok."
" We're ok?" She asked, shakily.
" We're ok. I forgive you. I love you." He reassured.
Then, in pure silence the Shepherds mourned their dead son and the life they were trying to get back.
I know the baby thing is the most overused storyline since Addi has arrived, but it's one that I have fun developing on. REVIEW PLEASE!
