Mercy

Mercy

Disclaimer: I don't own Jake Long. If I did it probably wouldn't be preferred for kids.

AN: What's this? Another chapter so soon? Yes! After the long wait I felt compelled to write this for you all. Enjoy.

A New Life: Epilogue

It doesn't matter how many times it happens, it never loses its value. When a life comes into this world for the first time, life seems to mend itself—if only for a few precious moments.

That's how it was when I had woken in a white room; I wasn't surprised to find myself in a hospital after the fight. I was pretty sure I would end up there… though I believed that I would be alone. I didn't expect to see the man sitting beside my bed, "Jake…" I smiled at him.

He and Haley flew Trixie and me to the hospital shortly after Trixie's water broke, Spud riding on Jake's back, he'd told me. Now Spud was in the room with his wife, their children and my daughter still at my house. The police had come by my room before I was allowed to leave with Jake and asked what had happened, we told them it was a gang attack and that there was a man in the building dead.

I left with Jake to go to Trixie's room, I knew which one was hers the moment I heard the crying of a newborn. It brought back memories of my Mercy's birth. Before we were able to make our way inside, Haley stopped us outside the door. She hadn't seemed angry, a bit annoyed rather, "The next time we go into battle, let a girl know all the details? It would've been nice not to have been the only one who didn't know that Julie was really the old Huntsgirl."

I nodded, "I'm sorry, Haley."

Haley shrugged, "Don't worry about it, just don't let it happen again."

After that I had gone inside the room with Jake by my side. I smiled as I saw the couple with their newest treasure. Trixie looked at me and smiled, "Thanks for coming for me," she looked down to the baby, "Say hello to Rose, Maya."

The rest came together after that it seemed.

I look at myself in the mirror and smile as I brush my wavy blonde hair and stare ever so slightly at my blue eyes.

I can finally look at my reflection in ease. Julie Reynolds is no longer and I am me again. Who would have thought I would owe that to the American Dragon?

My old enemy…

My name is Rose. I have a feline friend, Selene and a daughter, Mercedes Rose, my Mercy.

And now I have a good group of friends, a true family after all these years and I'm happy. Mercy no longer has to run, there's no need to run anymore. I was able to keep my promise thanks to Jake Long. She has friends, friends she can grow up with now and she's happy. We can finally settle down… of course I know that the dangers for Mercy will never go away, but I don't have to fight those dangers alone. I don't have to run. And of course being involved with the American Dragon will hardly be easy with all of his enemies, but I will fight with him happily.

So it seems the story didn't quite end as I thought it would. The girl may not have left the Huntsclan but the woman did. And the story isn't over just yet. As for Jake and I… well I think we're on our way to the way things should have been.

Who knows? Maybe the girl and her dragon-boy will live happily ever after, after all.

That is it. That is the end! Be on the lookout for my newest ADJL fiction coming very shortly. Hope you enjoyed it!
