Brand New Hero

Danny Fenton was pacing in his room. He was shocked and dazed at what had happened.

I've got big dreams but no self-esteem, you know?

I'd reach for the stars but I can't find my arms.

Back and forth, back and forth he paced. He couldn't believe it. He could save the entire town from the Ghost King, yet his parents still didn't think Danny Phantom was a good ghost.

All this time I've accomplished so much.

Why can't I believe, why can't I just feel love?

Goin' away, leavin' today, you've gotta find a brand new hero.

It was all his fault. He had no one to blame but himself. If he hadn't been so stupid and accidently activated the Fenton Ghost Portal, that ghost wouldn't have got out and hurt Sam and Tucker. If he didn't do something, it was only a matter of time until other people got hurt too.

I let you down when you're not around, you know?

I can't be trusted with anything.

He was half-ghost. He didn't belong here. Part of the town hated him as Danny Phantom, and most of the high school hated him as Danny Fenton. He didn't belong in the ghost zone either. Most of his dangerous and powerful enemies were there.

All this time I've wanted so much

To just belong, why can't I just feel love?

Maybe he should just run away to a place far away from here, where no one knew him. Valerie could take care of the ghosts. There wouldn't be many, as most of them only came out of the ghost zone because of Danny anyway.

From the closet to the window and back again, he paced. He was sick of always having to lie to everyone, especially his parents.

Always talking but I never say a lot.

Next time he may not be quick enough to save his friends. And what would happen when a ghost came that he couldn't beat? It's hard enough to beat Plasmius, who has human emotions and a conscience, unlike most ghosts, it seems. What happens when a ghost comes who doesn't even care if he kills everyone in town?

And I'll blow it if I get another shot.

'Cause it seems like no matter what I got

It feels like it's nothing.

I feel like I'm nothing.

Danny made his decision. He was leaving tonight. Where, he did not know, but he had to leave now before someone else got hurt. He threw some clothes, money, food, and a few personal possessions into his backpack. He grabbed a pen and paper out of his desk drawer and wrote seven words on it.

"You've gotta find a brand new hero."

He then changed into Danny Phantom, turned invisible, and flew out the window, never seen in Amity Park again.

Neither as Fenton or Phantom.
