A/N: This is what I get for reading a whole bunch of Yurikus. I'm supposed to be mad at them! XD Please review.
The cool night breeze blew, a few strands of silver hair falling into his eyes and he brushed it away carelessly. His arms were folded behind his head and he was gazing up at the stars with that kind of small smile that scrawls itself across your face when it's just you doing something unbelievable amazing to you, but utterly confusing to others.
That kind of secret smile…
No one ever came with him to look at the stars, they were all too busy. He also knew they didn't understand, but he was okay with that. He was just fine staring at the stars by himself. That's why, when she spoke, he was startled.
"I heard a story about stars once." She said, coming up behind him.
"A story?" He repeated, his tone implying that he wanted to hear more.
"Yeah, a story." She murmured, staring up at the twinkling lights, her raven hair falling back off her face.
He watched her with a quirked eyebrow, wasn't she going to continue? There was a moment of stillness, not even the wind blew. Everything seemed to be waiting for her to speak again.
"It was about a boy," She began, "Who spent much of his time alone. He watched the whole world change before him, but never was a part of it." She took in a deep breath, "And then one day, while staring up at the stars a girl he knew came up and told him she was leaving. This had come as a shock to the boy; for though he never took place in the changes around him he had always thought the girl was pretty. But he never told her that, so he just sat there, speechless. After awhile he spoke and said 'Oh…' She smiled at him and told him that her and her fiancé were going to explore all the different worlds. He nodded and she told him her goodbyes since she would be leaving early tomorrow. He nodded again, said goodbye and watched her disappear." She stopped for a moment and glanced at him with indigo eyes.
"And on the night of the day she had left the boy counted every star…but one." She gave a smile, "He saved that one for her. And when the girl was on the plane leaving, she saw a star; the one the boy had left for her and noticed how it was the brightest of them all. She turned to her fiancé and said, 'Isn't that pretty?' He looked at her quizzically, but smiled 'Yes, yes it is.' He replied. And from that night on, that star was the one that always shown the brightest." She looked over at him and grinned.
There was another silence, he was a bit unnerved by the story. It sounded too familiar. The raven-haired girl rose, "Well, I better get some sleep. Tomorrow is a big day."
Aqua eyes gazed up at her, "Yeah," He replied softly.
Her grin faded to a small quirk of her lips, "Bye."
He didn't turn to look at her, "Later." The girl disappeared and the cool wind began to blow again. Staring up at the night sky once more a sigh escaped his lips. There were some things he would miss.
Yuffie…
Opening the door to her apartment, she stole a glance back over her shoulder at the rooftop he was on. "Maybe I should have understood you better." She whispered. Maybe not all things should be judged before trying. "There's a lot about you I'll miss."
Riku…
I'll save you a star.
A/N: Zomg, wow, THAT hadn't been how I intended this. :sigh: I hope you liked it.
