A/N: Written for 30 smiles Theme #12 "ice skating"

Echizen Ryoma sometimes regretted joining Seigaku's Tennis club. He loved the tennis aspect of it, but the "club" part of it was what he did not enjoy. Things like "team bonding" did not suit him. Every month the regulars would go on a field trip to promote "team bonding,' as Oishi-senpai put it. Come to think of it, this was all Oishi-senpai and Kikumaru-senpai's idea. Every month they would go and do some stupid activity. Last month they had a sleepover (Ryoma remembered that night all too vividly) and the month before that they went bowling (a day that Ryoma can't get out of his head). This month was Ice skating. It wasn't that Ryoma couldn't ice skate, it was just that he hated it. He found it very boring to go around and around in a circle for hours (though some might argue that hitting a ball across a net is boring too…)

Ryoma looked around at his teammates: they each had different levels of ice skating ability. Tezuka-buchou and Fuji-senpai glided next to each other with out the slightest hint of struggle. Kikumaru-senpai skated backwards in front of Oishi-senpai who would stumble slightly every few feet. Kaidoh-senpai was being taught how to ice skate by Inui and Kawamura-senpai near the wall that surrounded the skating rink. Momo-senpai was skating right next to Ryoma. Momoshiro had bragged about being an exceptionally good skater, but everyone soon found out the opposite when he would fall on his butt every so often.

The tennis prince sighed quietly. He'd only been there for half an hour, and his mother had threatened to take away his tennis rackets if he spent less than an hour at the rink. Ryoma wasn't having any fun at all. That is until he spotted her.

His eyes had drifted around the rink again and he saw Ryuzaki Sakuno enter the rink timidly. She skated close to the wall in hopes of catching it if she fell. And, of course, the second she saw Ryoma she fell. She looked very sad sitting there on the ice. Sakuno tired to get up but being so clumsy she just stayed down. Ryoma took pity on her and staked over to her.

Ryoma offered Sakuno his hand. "Mada Mada Dane, Ryuzaki" he said as he helped the girl to her feet. She blushed furiously and thanked him. Ryoma smiled to himself, maybe ice skating wasn't so bad after all.
