Whoa, never thought I would write a Sprx x Nova thing…it was a bit of a fluke really, I saw the word magnetism one day, remembered the magnet weapons Sparx has at his disposal and the idea sort of arose from there…
Ah, magnetism, a handy little word indeed…and it seems to describe their relationship so adequately.
Sometimes they fight. A lot. They seem to repel each other, him with his teasing, her with her fearsome fists or a witty comeback. However it is to be noted that he never hits her back, refusing to lay a single gleaming digit or magnet on her in retaliation. It's not because he's a gentleman, oh no, far from it, that cheeky 'spark' in his eye seems to hint that his helmet contains a more dirty mind rather than an innocent one.
It's just…there's something there. It's in the way that he looks at her or the way that she speaks in that softened tone of voice when she senses waves of depression rolling off him. It pulls them together even when there's everything else there to drive them apart.
And somewhere, in the roots of their denial, they can feel it. Every time their hands meet unexpectedly or their tails become entwined, tangled up in each other's, that same pull exists. It's like a growing attraction between them, similar to the one that causes their home planet to be dragged round the sun, without falter. Only theirs is so much stronger is so many ways and they are at a loss to explain. You could try to describe it with a thousand words and yet that epic description would still be insufficient, paling in comparison to what it really is.
But what with all the repelling and the attracting…it just tears them in twos and threes and fours…until there's nothing but tiny countless pieces of complex emotion they have to muddle through and get lost in. But that's impossible because that same bedamned pull persists, dragging them through the mess towards each other. It's taxing for the pair of them, as they constantly bicker…and yet at the same time they don't mind that much, maybe even secretly enjoying it. It becomes an indulgence of sorts.
It worries him as it forces him to become serious, something his attitude rejects strongly while at the same time the pleasure the feelings give him…it makes him want to push further, see how far it can go. And it scares her because she's a strong warrior who's independent and the thought of opening herself up to him of all monkeys…well it's just a tad horrifying. And when she thinks 'tad' she means 'very'. And yet…the warmth this strange gravity of emotion gives her…she never wants it to ever stop. It melts away all her fears, makes her feel safe, so different from her fear and hatred of the cold, combating it in a way.
But it's too soon for their opposite poles to meet yet. The differences between them shouldn't matter but they're still there all the same. And so she tries to pull away while he kept edging forward, cautiously or boldly as the case may be. Because he's scared too though he'll never admit it. Terrified of scaring her off so much that she'll never want to see his face again.
So for the time being they'll be stuck in the endless pattern of pushing and pulling. One day the sensation will be too overpowering but until then…
"Magnetingler blast!"
She crashes on top of him as he draws her metal body to his, via his arms-turned-magnets.
Who said magnetism didn't work like a charm?
