Romantic Pairing: Commander Anubis "Doggie" Cruger/Dr. Katherine Manx
Commander Cruger was
watching the night sky from the balcony outside his office. He sighed
to himself, coming to this location every night. Alone.
"Want some company?"
The Commander turned around, to see her. Dr. Kat Manx. She was dressed in a blue sweater and black pants. She sat by him, and smiled a little.
"Your own thinking space?" Kat asked looking at the sky.
Cruger nodded. "Yes…It's always so nice here, great for being away from the responsibilities of the Academy."
Kat nodded, and looked up at him. "What's troubling you?" she asked resting her head on his shoulder. Cruger stared at his feline-like friend, and shook his head.
"Nothing."
"Doggie…spill it."
Cruger sighed softly. "I miss Sirius." he said. "Sometimes, I just wish for the good times, with my family and friends."
"You have friends here, too, Doggie." Kat said softly, placing a gentle hand on his arm.
"I am not friends with my cadets." Cruger protested. "I am not their friend. I am their Commander."
"You know that's bull." Kat said crossing her arms. "I mean, look at all we've done. We've been there for each other, like true friends do."
The blue dog thought about this for a moment. Friends…The one word he would never associate himself with his rangers. A small smile curled across his lips.
"A smile…" Kat said smiling herself. "Haven't seen that in a long time."
Cruger couldn't help but just hold her close. Kat was taken aback this action, thinking this was from the person she would least expect. Not resisting, she just sunk into his arms, letting him cradle her. Her eyes closed slowly, and she fell into a small sleep.
"Kat…" Cruger whispered. "Kat?" He looked down, seeing her napping against his chest, purring softly.
"Sweet dreams, Kitten." Cruger whispered softly, holding her throughout the night, not letting her go for a moment.
