January 31, 2019

There is a new version of this story being re-written right now!
It' s oh-so-creative name is:

The Abuse in a Violently Different Dimension (new rendition)

and you can find it here on but also on AO3 (VGJekyll)

And since I've been told that only posting A/N is not allowed,
here's a quick and short scene between Ron, Hermione & a spider:

Damsel In Distress

Ron was startled when he suddenly heard a voice speaking in his ear, telling him to hold still.

His first reaction was not to obey the voice and he found himself twisting in his seat. He was just in time to see no other than Hermione Granger snatching something out of his sweater's hoodie and throwing it rather gently to the side.

He scared confused at the Slytherin, who smirked at him.

'I just saved your life,' she told him and then shrugged with one shoulder. 'You're welcome.'

Ron gaped at her, confused out of his mind, then glanced to the floor. There a tiny spider appeared to be running for its life. Ron quickly hopped out of his seat and away from it. Meanwhile, the spider reached the wall and started to scramble upwards.

Ron glanced back at Hermione, his face flushed with embarrassment and confusion.

'Thank you?' he ventured, not certain how he was supposed to react in this situation. The Slytherin smirked again. She clearly took enjoyment out of his embarrassment.

'You can thank me by buying me ice cream from Fabiola's' she told him.

Somewhere behind him, he heard a snort. 'Smooth Hermione,' a voice stated dryly. That had to be Draco Malfoy. Wait a moment, did she just ask Ron out on a date?

'What?' Hermione said defensively. 'If I left it up to him, he would never have asked me at all!'

Oh, wow. She did ask him out!

'What?' Ron then realized something else. 'Am I a damsel in distress?

'If I get to wear armour. You get to be whatever you want.'

Ron stared flabbergasted at her. She was kinda pretty though. And she had asked him out! He didn't have to think long about it. 'Fine I'll be your damsel!'

His best friend, Neville Longbottom and supposedly the Boy-Who-Lived, but who hadn't even protected his own best friend from evil spiders, laughed.

'Dude. You just lost any masculinity you had left.'

Ron shrugged. 'Who cares about that? I got a date.'

He smiled at Hermione, whose smirk had turned into something softer.

'Hey, and I am paying, right? So here. Masculinity regained.'

'I'll just have to pay for the next date,' Hermione answered and finally went to her seat where Draco Malfoy already was waiting. Ron stared after her. Did she just arrange a second date too?

'Man, you're are so out of your depth,' Neville said and hit his arm good-naturedly.

Ron shrugged. He got dates(multiple!) with a cute girl who was not afraid of spiders. She was a keeper!
