Love, Such A Simple Thing
by Tamar-Shakira
"Could we sit down?" he asked.
"No. You
wanted to talk, so talk. What do you have to say to me?"
He
paused a second and then said:
"I love you."
He then walks
away and gets in his car. All I could do was watch him leave.
(Rory's point of view)
Why did I let him walk away? I don't know. Why didn't I tell him I love him too? I don't know. Why didn't I kiss him with joy, after I just heard the words I wanted to hear for such a long time come from his mouth. I don't know. I just don't freaking know. These thoughts penetrate my mind when I enter my room. I let myself fall down on my bed and let the tears fall freely. He said it and I did nothing.
Wondering if he's still staying at Luke's, I decide to call him. It's like this urge inside of me that makes me want to talk to him. I bet he don't even want to talk to me, but I need to hear his voice.
I dial his number and wait.
"Hello?" It's Luke.
"Hey, is Jess there?"
"Rory?"
"Yeah."
"Wait a sec, I'll get him for you. Jess! Phone! He's coming."
"Thanks."
The nerves whirl through my stomach, when I hear his grunt fill my ear.
"Uhm, hi?" I say.
"Rory? Hi." He sounds more awake now.
"I'm sorry."
"What? Why? You didn't do anything."
More tears fall and I try to hold back sobs.
"That's what I mean. I didn't do anything! I should have told you that I love you, too. I should have hugged right there. I shouldn't have let you walk away! And I... I..."
I can't hold back the sobs anymore. My voice breaks. "S-sorry..."
He doesn't react... I hear him hang up... He hates me.(Jess' points of view)
I have to let this sink in. She loves me. I can't believe it. She loves me. Remembering she was talking to me through the phone, I pick up the earpiece. "Rory?"
Beep-beep-beep. I hung up on her.
"Fuck."
I grab my jacket and head for the door.
"Where do you think you're going?" I hear Luke say.
"Out."
"Coming back?"
"Don't bother."
The cold winter air fills my nostrils, as I walk to Rory's home. Not caring whether or not her mother is home, I climb up the roof and softly knock on her window.
"Not now." I can hear that she's upset. It bothers me.
"It's me," I call.
The curtain is being pulled aside and it reveals a tear-strained, puffy-eyed Rory.
"Hi," I mouth.
She opens the window and walks back to her bed, where she falls face-down onto her pillows.
Okay, breath Mariano! You're just standing in her room. Like you did so many times before. But what do I do now? I don't know, pat her or something?
"Rory?"
Grunt.
"Are you okay?"
Grunt. She's turning into me, great.
"What?"
I walk over to her and sit on her bed. She turns around and looks at me.
"Did you mean it?" I ask.
She nodded.
"Did you mean it?" she asks.
"Yeah," I whisper. "So..."
"So..."
"Hi."
"Hi."
She slowly sits up on the bed and smiles.
"What's so funny?" I ask.
She looks at me. "Déja-vu."
I smile too. "Yeah, me too."
"But..."
"But what?" she asks, a questioned look on her face.
"What do we do now?"
"Uhm, maybe we should try to get a little closer?"
"Could be an option."
I notice that our faces are steadily moving closer, until they can't get any closer. As Rory's eyes flutter close, I deepen our kiss.
If someone could see us through the bedroom window, they'd know that we couldn't be possibly happier.
A/N: Well, that was my first attempt to write a Jess/Rory story. I'm sorry if I totally screwed up the characters. I only saw a couple of episodes, which contain Jess/Rory romance (and now I'm all !squeal!). I really hope they'll be back together in the 6th episode or the 7th. Would be awesome. Thanks for reading and don't forget to review. :)
