REAR-ENDED
Relena had come to admire the snow. In previous years, it was usually a source of frustration and irritation to her for where there is snow, there is bound to be ice. However, on the first heavy snowfall of the season, she had to count her blessings.
The woman had woken up as usual and set off to go to work by car. Instead, she spent a hasty 10 minutes clearing the powdery snow off the vehicle before paying attention to the driveway. Running in inadequate shoes to the shed, she ice-skated her way back where attempts to free her preferred mode of transportation were done with slow success. In the end, Relena had resorted to kicking the fluff in order to move, the shovel standing up awkwardly on the side of the driveway with three dents made on the handle.
But that wasn't the end of her troubles, she was stuck behind one of the public busses trying to make its way across the lanes and through the overflow of traffic. Relena cranked up the volume of the radio for the weather report and upon hearing the good news, decided to scare the driver behind her by making foreign animal sounds at the rearview mirror and flailing her arms around.
Still a ways from the office, Relena was about to give up all hope of ever reaching her desk in time and pondered if it would be unethical to have a little snack in her SUV. Precisely at that moment, she heard the sound of tires skidding and she hit the brakes with quick reflexes, swerving her vehicle to the right to avoid contact. She wasn't Milliardo's sister for nothing.
"Need any help?" she asked as she got out of the car and ploughed towards the jeep that had lost constrol in the middle of the road. The driver was bent over looking at his tires and talking to another driver who had come out to aid him. There was no reply for her and Relena was thinking about how inconsiderate these two men were when her attention was caught on something. Those jeans looked awfully familiar.
"Heero Yuy?"
As if on command, he stood up and faced her with cheeks all aglow. To make things even more bizarre, the man next to him was Trowa. Wow, a man in need, who shall help him?
"Need a ride," the latter said and pushed Heero forward towards her. Taking responsibility of the jeep, the blue-eyed man was resigned to Relena hospitality. She got inside the car and he sat in the passenger's seat, eyeing her curiously and trying to analyze whether that blush was from the weather or for something else. Waving goodbye to Trowa, they were off to their destination.
They never arrived at the office.
Relena called in sick after lunch.
Heero called in with car troubles a few moments later.
Trowa called in and said they were both lost causes.
