Disclaimer: If I owned Andromeda, Rommie and Dylan would be together already. Mmmk? There. See? That isn't so hard to understand. Go ahead and flame me. I'll roast my little marshmallow pumpkins over them.
Author's Note: Wow. My second fic of the night. This is cool. I'm on a roll. Ok, so I should be finishing All's Fair In Love and War, but I just watched Phear Phactor Pheremones (I think that's what it's called) and the episode after it, but I didn't like it much. So, I create a new path to the end of my twisted little Rommie/Dylan goals. See? Now we're all happy. It starts when Dylan goes into Rommie's "mind" for the first time in PPP. Read and review!
One Thing I Can Do Is Remember You…
He was in a yellow wasteland, full of blocks surrounded by bottomless chasms. He took a running jump and hopped a small gap to a larger platform. Looking ahead, he realized all the other blocks were too far away. The only way to go was back the way he came. Suddenly, a hologram blinked into view.
Black hair streaked with red framed that face, the face he knew and lo… knew so well. She was wearing that expression that was almost always followed by "I do not understand". He was wrenched from his observations by her voice, a voice he hadn't heard in a year.
"Who are you?"
"Rommie? It's me, Dylan."
"Dy-lan…" She cocked her head to one side as she sounded out his name.
"Do you remember me?"
She thought for a moment. "I do not remember who I am. I do not remember what I am. I do not remember where or why I am, but I do remember you…" Her look of puzzlement grew to one of uncertainty. "I felt love for you, did I not?"
This caught Dylan by surprise. He stared for a minute, then responded. "Your name is the Andromeda Ascendant. You are my warship. I am your captain."
"I do not remember that, though the name Rommie sounds familiar." As Rommie spoke, the block she was on moved slowly closer to Dylan's. "I loved you, didn't I?"
"I don't know," Dylan said quietly. "I never asked."
"Why?" Rommie stepped from her block to Dylan's, moving until she was only an inch or two away from him. "Why didn't you ask? Do you dislike me?"
Dylan stopped breathing for a moment at her closeness. It had been so long since he'd seen her. He hastened to reassure her on the subject of his feelings. "No, I didn't dislike you. I just… never asked."
Rommie reached out a hand and touched his face. "Why did I love you?"
Dylan froze, wanting to lean into her hand yet not allowing himself to. "I don't know," he replied, honestly.
Rommie withdrew her hand. "Did you love me?"
He couldn't bring himself to lie to her, not when she was so helpless and confused. "Yes," he whispered.
She stared at him for a moment, then leaned forward and kissed him. Although it took him a moment to respond, Dylan kissed her back. He brought one hand up to cradle the back of her head, and the other one went to her neck.
When he needed to breathe, he pulled back. Rommie tilted her head to one side. "Did I do that right? That is the correct thing to do, is it not?"
Dylan smiled. "Yes it is." He tucked the red lock of hair behind her ear. "That was exactly what you do. Now, come one. Let's figure out what's wrong with you."
A/N: Awww… cute. Ok. This is intended to be a one-shot, but I'm open to suggestions. Does it need more? Tell me, please. You've read, now review!
