"Hey, Moony! Help me out here!" Sirius Black was sitting
in the Gryffindor Common Room trying to study for their upcoming Defense
Against the Dark Arts otherwise known as their D.A.D.A O.W.L. Remus looked
at his friend with annoyance and pity, "Padfoot, you need to study on your
own. I won't always be there for you. You know that." He went back to his,
"Bible" as the others called it, Hogwarts: A History. James said that he
quoted that book so many times a day that they had no need to read it.
Sirius continued to wine and finally after thirty minutes of listening to
his pitiful complaining Remus slammed the book down and made Sirius jump.
'What did I do?" he asked as Remus stalked out of the room as he announced
that he was going to the library to no one in particular.
Remus took a deep breath and smelled the books. This was his home, his sanctuary and his life. He came here when he was angry, sad, scared, or in a fight with his friends. Here he felt truly appreciated and not used. There was a noise coming from the back of the library, (being a werewolf has it's advantages) He ran to see a girl crying and holding a book to her chest. Remus was quite taken aback by this girl's appearance. Her long brown hair flowed gracefully down her sides and her bright chocolate eyes shown with tears. Her skin was pale and she looked scared and alone. He bent down to her,
"Um... excuse me, are you alright miss?" he asked her out of concern. She looked up at him and gasped, "Professor?" Remus looked at her in confusion, "Um.... no I'm Remus Lupin, I'm a sixth year at Hogwarts....but I guess you know that huh." She stopped crying but continued to sniff once in a while. He sat down across from her, "What's your name?" She smiled at him, "You know exactly who I am." Okay now he was seriously confused, how did he know her when he had never seen her? "Okaaaaaaaay. What is your house?" again she smiled at him, "Gryffindor." He sighed. This could be a while. He looked up and saw only air and the book she held lying on the table. He quickly looked around to see that no one was there. Curiosity got the best of him and he grabbed the book and read the cover, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." He then opened the cover and read out loud, "For twelve long years, the dreaded fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black." He stopped and read the sentence over again, "okaaaaaay, convicted of KILLING THIRTEEN PEOPLE!?" "Wow!" he read on, "With a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the DARK LORD!" the librarian shushed him and he apologized and read the rest, "Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter's defeat of You-Know-Who was Black's downfall as well. And the Azkaban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, "He's at Hogwarts...he's at Hogwarts. Harry Potter isn't safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst." Remus was spellbound by this summery and wanted to read the book very much. But something in the back of his mind tugged and said that this was a very different book and would changed his and his friend's lives forever. He took off for the Common room never noticing the girl smiling at him from behind a bookshelf.
