Dear Harry,
Of course I don't mind. Actually, I was just starting to write you a letter when your lovely little owl happened to flutter through the window (don't worry, it was open at the time). Her name is Hedwig, isn't it? Anyway, seeing as I was already writing I asked her if she wouldn't mind waiting around a bit, as Daddy's sent Percival off to London this morning and hasn't returned yet. She seems to be quite partial to gingerbread cookies, did you know?
Anyway, I hope this message finds you intact. Ginny told me you don't get along terribly well with your relatives there, so I imagine your summers must be a bit dreary. Don't despair though; there's plenty to do, you just have to know where to look!
Ginny read the letters you've been sending to her brother, and she's of the opinion that you're feeling rather sad right now. I suppose that's understandable, but you know Harry, the sadness will wane eventually. It will. I promise. Sadness never triumphs, Harry, so long as you can hope.
Hope is the one thing that makes us different from them, Harry. The ones that can't end up on that other side; you remember, we saw them at the Ministry. You saw the despair in their eyes too, I'm sure. So always hope, Harry. Cherish your beliefs and cling to them, because they can give meaning in even the darkest times. In the end, it really doesn't matter what's true and what's false...what matters is that you believe.
Just believe, Harry. I do. In you, and in many other things. It's a lot easier than you might think, too.
One way is to just have faith that the World will unfold as it should, in the end. Without darkness, there can be no light, can there? And when you stop to think about it, we're just along for the ride, really. But that doesn't mean we can't have fun along the way!
Speaking of that, Ginny's invited me to the Burrow for the last two weeks of summer (though she says she hasn't told Ronald yet), so I expect I'll see you a bit early this year. Oh, and a most interesting thing happened today, I received an owl from Hermione Granger (I asked Daddy to give her a free subscription to The Quibbler), and she's asked me to save you all seats on the Hogwarts Express come September.
Anyway, Harry, always colour outside the lines, and I'll see you soon!
Your friend,
Luna
