Prologue: Making Enemies
She kept her head down. She always felt self conscious around people, especially when they
stared. Though they couldn't see her face anyway, because she always wore a hooded jacket,
even at school. Her mother talked to the school about it before she enrolled, and they
okayed it, so she always wore the black trench coat with the hood. She felt inferior, that
she had no right to be seen by anyone, and that her face should never be revealed for the
shame that she felt.
It was the first day of school, the day that she hated the most, since people only stared
at her more. She went to homeroom, which she hated even more because they always made you
get up to get your schedule. She could always feel the eyes of people on her, she hated
that feeling most of all, it made her feel trapped, claustrophobic, like she couldn't
breath. That was the reason for the hood.
"Kagome Higurashi." The teacher called, holding up Kagome's schedule.
'Oh no!' Kagome thought, getting up slowly and walking to get her schedule.
She could hear the whispers behind her back, she did her best to ignore them, but it was
hard. It was always hard for her ever since that day. A day she rather forget.

"Inu-babe, let me see your schedule." Kikyo said coming up behind Inuyasha and
snaking her arms around his waist.
"Sure thing babe, here." Inuyasha said, handing her the schedule.
"Oh goody! Look lover, we have first, second and last period together!" Kikyo said,
excited.
"Tight.So we gonna hook up tonight?" Inuyasha asked with hope in his eyes.
"Oh, you look so cute with that look on your face, how could I say no?" Kikyo
answered, kissing Inuyasha on the lips.
"Okay! Inu's gonna get some action!" Inuyasha said excitedly.
"What was that?" Kikyo asked, narrowing her eyes.
"Nutin'." Inuyasha quickly.
"Right, let's just get to class." Kikyo said, leading him to their first period.

Kagome walked to her first period class, with her head down. That was a mistake however,
as she ran into the most popular girl in school.
"Hey! Watch where you're going bitch!" Kikyo yelled, turning around to see who had
bumped into her.
Kagome didn't say anything, just remained silent.
"Hey, I'm talkin' to you!" Kikyo yelled out, totally pissed.
Kagome still just stood there, with her head down.
"What the fuck is your problem? You better answer me you little bitch!" Kikyo yelled,
grabbing Kagome's coat.
That's when Inuyasha came.
"Hey! What the hell's goin' on?"
"This little bitch ran into me and won't apologize." Kikyo huffed.
"Whoa! Calm down girl!" Inuyasha said, holding Kikyo back as she tried to grab Kagome
and hit her.
Then all hell broke loose as kids gathered around and began to cheer Kikyo on.
"That's right, show her who's boss!"
"Kick her ass!"
"Knock the little bitch out!"
"Teach her a lesson!"
Soon the princepal came, pushing her way through the crowd.
"Okay! Okay! Break it up! Everyone get back to class! There's nothing to see here!
Show's over!" Mrs. Kaede said, shooing the students off to class. "Awws" being heard
throughout the crowd as kids began to walk back to their class.
"Kikyo, don't you think it's a little early in the scool year to be starting fights?"
Kaede asked.
"But I didn't start it! She did! She bumped into me!" Kikyo exclaimed, pointing to
Kagome.
"Regardless, it's no reason to pick a fight. Now go back to class." Kaede said.
"Pfft! Whatever."
As she walked by Kagome she whispered,
"Better watch yourself, freak."

Kagome walked to her first period, not fast, just a slow pace. She never walked fast, which
made people stare even more, she knew this well, but she just ignored them and kept going
at her own slow pace. Many people thought that there was a freakishly ugly person underneath
that hood, quite to the contrary however, they were wrong. Kagome was a very lovely young
lady, with pale, flawaless skin and a nice figure, but since no one had ever seen her without
her trench coat, they simply thought that she was trying to cover up something.
Kagome finally made it to her class, just as the bell rang. She walked in, looking for a place
to sit. That's when she spotted her, that Kikyo girl.
'Oh no! Not her again! She'll bother me, I just know it!' Kagome thought, trying to
find a seat before the tempermental girl saw her and tried to pick up where she left off.
She spotted a seat in the corner and quickly walked over to it.
That's when she was spotted.
"Well, well, well. Look who's here. The freak." Kikyo said, walking over.
"Kikyo, come on. Not again. I think she might be a mute." Inuyasha said, pulling on
Kikyo's sleeve.
"Oh well boo hoo. Look little girl, 'cuz I'm only gonna say this once, stay out off
my way. DOn't touch me, or even look at me. Under stand?" Kikyo said menacingly to Kagome.
Kagome just look straight ahead.
"Hey, did you hear me?" Kikyo said, getting riled.
"Yes, but you said not to look at you." Kagome finally said, speaking for the first
time that day.
"Don't get smart, just do as I say." Kikyo said, turning and flouncing back to her
seat.
"Don't worry about her, she always get like this on the first day." Inuyasha said.
"Inuyasha! Don't talk to her, get over here!" Kikyo commanded.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm comin'!" Inuyasha said, getting annoyed at her nagging.

The day finally ended and kids burst through the doors of the school, running to their cars,
while others ran to the bus ramp.
Kagome walked slowly to the shrine that she lived at. Her family was well known, since they
owned the shrine for generations.
"Mom! I'm home!" Kagome yelled as she walked into the house.
"Oh good. I was wondering about you and how your first day went." Her mom said,
coming out of the kitchen.
"It was okay, except this girl tried to pick a fight with me because I bumped into
her."
"Yes, okay Mr. Kunda. I'll be there right away."
'(Sigh) WHat's new? My mother will never have time for me.' Kagome thought as she
turned and walked up the stairs and went to her room.
Kagome's mother was a lawyer and was always on the phone, even on her days off. Today was
supposed to be her day off, but once again as always, she got a call from someone at the
office and got caught up in work again.
Kagome fell on the bed, she was exhausted, as always. She never seemed to have enough energy
for her hectic life.
Soon her eyelids grew heavy and she drifted off into a sound sleep.
