Author's note: I know it's been awhile since the last update but just so you know, I'm determined to finish this sucker.
Wal-mart wasn't rather crowded surprisingly. As the five of them stepped inside, three familiar bikers were walking out with a bag filled with motor oil and leather soap. On the way to the toy aisle, they spotted Mai Valentine examining two nearly identical vials of nail polish.
"Does anyone remember what the cat looked like?" Ryou asked once they reached the aisle full of bright happy faces made of fabric and plastic. April sniffed and wiped her nose on his wet shoulder.
"I remember it made a nice scrtt noise as it tore." Marik replied and Raven lunged from Bakura's arms with mouth open and teeth bared at the yami's throat.
"Down girl." Bakura told the little girl, jerking her away from Marik at the last moment. She snapped her teeth at the yami.
"'ello Kitty." April whimpered. "Pincess 'ello Kitty."
"Momma got it" Raven informed everyone and April began wailing. "I tell Ma-lik on nou."
"Say one word to my hikari and I'll use the pointy end of this on you." The yami threatened brandishing the Millennium Rod.
"Pincess 'ello Kitty!" April screamed. Ryou shushed the little girl and assured her that they would begin searching for it.
"Quit antagonizing the child and help look for that toy or I'll call Malik." Bakura snapped. Raven giggled as Marik stomped away, Arabic curses neatly coming from his lips.
"Now remember Raven," the yami cooed sweetly to the little girl in his arms. "Don't repeat the naughty words you hear, okay?"
"Die!"
Bakura chuckled, "That one is fine."
"Yay!"
"So any idea where to start the search?" Bakura asked his hikari. April herself raised her hand.
"'ello Kitty store?" she suggested
"Barbies!" Raven exclaimed and both white haired gentlemen sighed.
The beginning of their search began in the bright pinks and purples of the Barbie aisle where Raven recommended. Both of the little girls were delighted over the chic dressed plastic woman whose friends you had to buy.
There was Barbie as a nurse, in her skimpy white dress lined in pink. Barbie as a Flamenco dancer performing a high kick in a silky red dress wearing dark gothic make up. A Barbie of the world, this month it was Japan and she wore an outfit with more leather and chains that made some of the outfits the pharaoh wore look tame.
"Kura, look!" Raven said pointed at a Barbie displayed at the end.
"Barbie as the Fullmetal Alchemist?!" Bakura exclaimed. "What the heck, is that a robotic arm?"
"Momma wan' Evie one." April announced. "She Evie fan."
"So, any other suggestions where we can find April's doll?" Ryou asked his yami.
Bakura set Raven down for a moment and pulled out his cell phone. He scrolled through his contacts and found Marik's number. The phone on the other end rang a few times before being picked up.
"What?"
"Hi Mawrik, April wants to know if you found her Pincess 'ello Kitty doll." The yami said sweetly. He heard a growl on the other end and grinned.
"Yes, I did and I happened to see something else."
"What?"
"Raven." Marik replied adding smugly. "I believe she was headed toward electronics."
Bakura glanced down and sure enough the little girl was no longer next to him. The yami snarled a few no so nice words. He turned to let his hikari know about the escape and was bowled over to find Ryou was no longer carrying April.
"Oh hi April, would you take this to Batura like a good lil monster?" Bakura heard Marik say. The yami heard a little girl's faint squeal and then an outraged cry from the other yami.
"Little brat called me bad boo boo."
"Marik, grab her before she gets away!" Bakura shouted and heard the other yami chuckle.
"Too late, she ran after her sister."
More naughty words streamed from the ancient spirit's mouth and a few mothers shooed their children the opposite way from the angry yami. The white haired man quickly grabbed his near twin and raced toward the little girl's last known location.
In the electronics, a very bored Espa Roba sat behind the counter texting on his phone. Bakura ordered his hikari to start scanning aisles on one side while he searched on the other side. When the two met in the middle, they turned and asked the duelist if he might have seen Raven or April.
"A blond or curly haired toddler? Sorry, haven't seen them." Roba replied with a frown. He cocked his head at Bakura when he began muttering curses.
"If they're lost, I can lock the store down and all the employees can look for them." He told Ryou. "It's policy in case of a kidnapping."
"I doubt they've been kidnapped." Bakura snapped flipping open his phone. He hit the speed dial for Marik's phone. "If anyone tries they'll be in for a nasty surprise with those demons."
Marik picked up after one ring.
"I'm looking, okay?!"
"We're in electronics and neither one's around." Bakura replied and added brightly, "But good news, Espa Roba says he can turn this place into a mini Shadow Realm and make someone else do the dirty work for us."
"That's great. One problem: Malik's taking Brooke shopping. Here." Marik announced and the yami went pale. "They find out what's going on and…"
"I know." Bakura growled. "Any ideas where the girls'll go?"
"Jewelry?"
"They do like their shiney's."
"Brooke and Malik are in the make up aisle so pray to whatever god you prefer the girls aren't into eye shadow and I'll meet you in jewelry."
"It's a date." Bakura replied with a snicker.
"I have a blade and I know how to use it." The other yami said not the least bit amused and hung up.
Bakura turned to Ryou as he put his cell away, "Cancel the witch hunt, Malik's in aisle five with Brooke."
"I didn't know Malik liked Twinkies?" His hikari frowned.
The yami had the sudden urge to yank out all his hair but he never did like the bald look. That and he'd end up with sunburn on his head. Then he'd look like a walking zit when his hair grew back.
"You fool, he's here!" Bakura snapped. "With his date!"
"Oh." Ryou said quietly. "That is bad."
"So, no locking the store down?" Roba inquired and received a scathing glare from the yami in response.
"Thanks for your help, Espa!" Ryou said dragging Bakura away before he did something stupid. Like punching the duelist when six cameras were trained on him. Ryou didn't feel like bailing Bakura out for the eighth time this month.
On the way to the jewelry aisle, the two white haired young men passed by racks of clothing. As they passed by a stand of T-shirts with the Celtic Guardians' face plastered on them, they heard a familiar noise.
"Bad boo boo."
Bakura stopped dead in his tracks with an annoyed glare. Despite Ryou still gripping his arm and pulling away from him, the yami dragged his hikari back and threw aside the T-shirts. Happily sitting on the floor in the middle of the metal frame sat April clutching her Hello Kitty plushie.
"'ide n 'eek!"
"Very funny." Bakura replied as Ryou knelt down and picked up the little girl. "If you cost me that eighty dollars I was promised, I'm hunting you down."
"Yay!"
"Bakura doesn't like playing hide and seek, April." Ryou told her as his yami stomped toward the jewelry, eyes and ears alert for any sign of the missing Raven.
"No, I like a good game of hide and seek." Bakura retorted. "If it's with gold and jewels."
They found Marik holding onto Raven standing next to a display of birthstone rings. When the little girl spotted her babysitter, she grabbed the nondescript box at her feet and raced toward him. Once she reached him, Raven proudly handed her gift to Bakura.
"For nou!"
Bakura looked over at Marik and noticed he was smothering a grin. Then he looked at the box the girl held out to him. Oh for Ra's sake!
Dull burnished plastic. A familiar script and design. The pharoah's face plastered on the front and sides. And in big white font across the front:
Yugioh! Millennium Puzzle
Ryou busted up in a fit of giggles.
"Nou want? Nou have!" Raven cried happily and shoved the box into his hands.
Bakura looked down at the box blinking with dazed bewilderment. Somehow Raven had found out about his centuries of attempts of taking the Millennium Puzzle and upon discovering this abomination of marketing tactics, thought of him. Sure, he wanted the Puzzle but he wanted the real one! Not something that had Made in Taiwan stamped on the underside.
But she looks so proud of herself, Bakura thought. And if I tell her I don't want it, she'll start crying and then be unmanageable! He had to think of something fast.
"Uh, thank you Raven." He told her awkwardly. "I'll come back later and buy it ok?"
"Kay!"
"Kura, gotta go potty." April announced wiggling in Ryou's arms. Alarm flashed on everyone's face.
"Can't you.. hold it?" Marik asked and she shook her head.
"We can't take you to the bathroom." Ryou said stricken. April wiggled loose and Raven took her hand.
"I go!" the elder girl told them and the two began trekking toward the bathroom. The three teenage boys were forced to follow.
"You can't go alone." Bakura told them.
"I a big girl." Raven announced proudly and the yami sighed.
"Fine, watch out for strangers. Don't play in yellow water. And don't eat the soap." Their babysitter told them as the reached the restrooms.
"Kay!"
Bakura pushed the door open for the little girls and watched reluctantly as they toddled inside.
"Bakura, Raven doesn't know her colors." Marik told him as the three lurked outside the bathroom.
"And I doubt either knows what soap is." Ryou added as Bakura crossed his arms in front of him.
"At least they know what strangers are." The yami snapped but before Ryou or Marik could reply, there came a scream from within.
" 'elp! I fall in!" April bawled. Bakura slapped his forehead with his palm as he heard Raven giggle.
"You have got to be kidding me."
